Hi y'all,
Normally I'm confined to the HBB off road section, so I'm stepping way out of my comfort zone. (maybe, yours too, I've heard about you porch guy's... just kiddin')
I need a little help to identify a 4 cylinder porche engine that I was given, as a basket case. (literally, all the parts were/are in bushel baskets, lol)
The only readable number that I can find on the case is GE051270. I looked it over pretty good, but that's the only stamped number. It's on the generator stand, at the pulley end. It was under a part number sticker bearing the numbers 022-100-032BX, S112, and 004-101-102A
I've tried to make any of those numbers work in several ID sites, with no luck.
Can anybody tell me what I have and is it worth salvaging? are there any other numbers stamped or hidden on the case or heads that might help? The jugs are 92mm, no idea on the stroke. (I can measure it)
Thanks for your patience with a Porche newbie... Paul _________________ If it turns $$$ into smoke and noise, I'm there.

Check the technical pages above--you'll find the GE 05XXXX numbers are from a 1979 Bus...
The 022 100 032BX part number suggests this is a factory-rebuilt short block or long block. _________________ Thanks,

Wolfgang,
that's the location, shown in your link, but I couldn't get the number to work, even adding a P* like it said.
Janerick3,
I've been to several Vanagon and bus (type 2 ) sites but, none have led me to that particular prefix or hit to a year or type code. I'm stumped.
Thanks for the help guy's, Paul _________________ If it turns $$$ into smoke and noise, I'm there.

Is there a list of engine ID numbers for all Porsche 4 cyl. engines?
I'm looking specifically for 914 engine numbers. |

Try Pelican Parts. com they list 914 Engine numbers up thru 1973, but don't include VW numbers. As there are a few differenes between the VW motors and the Porsche motors you might find some things are not
interchangable.
