I am curious if anyone ever heard of any very early October 1952 zwitter split beetles with crotch coolers? Was that even possible?
Please respond. Tim
I read this in the Samba forums, "Crotch coolers started mid April 51 and ended at the end September 52". |

I may have found one but it also could be a fake or modified car. I have seen plenty of them. We will see. There is no code for a crotch cooler is there? |

Especially given that they were a late '51, EARLY '52 feature, which was superseded by the vent-wing windows, they became technically (and functionally) superseded by then.
Add that to your "Urban Myth" lexicon.

Hot VWs featured a Yellow one back in the 90s. Even made the cover. Yes, it was custom made and NOT original. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Crotch cooled zwitters Very well could be urban myth. But, I don't think it's fair to describe crotch coolers as "early 52" since they lasted until September.
Somewhat related, I thought another thread presented a very small number of oval dash splits with 16" wheels existed..with evidence. Does anyone remember this thread? |

Zwitter CC (Crotch Cooler), forget about it..... pictures or otherwise it didn't happen!
If there are pictures, then it would either be a CC split with a newer oval dash grafted in, or a zwitter with CC's grafted in? Either way, forget about it . _________________ drive it like you just robbed the bank
you don't have to be crazy to be into VW's, but it sure helps!!

Ok guys, it was an updated 1951 old dash crotch cooler split with a zwitter dash welded in and some other mods to make it look newer. Done very well. had newer doors with vent windows, and really threw me off. You were all right! |

this logic holds true. Zwitter has vent winds and therefore the Volkswagen would not have continued the installation of the crotch cooler because the vent wing was there already.... _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Reviving a dead thread. But what about this one? 🤔

CCs with vent wings? Says he's owned for 55 years. I'm very curious about it.

That's a very well ventilated car - Crotch coolers, 1/4 lights, wind down windows, opening rear 1/4 windows, and a sunroof. The only way to beat this is to have one of those opening front windows! |

What do you think is grafted? It has to be more than just the CC's right? _________________ 66 European bug, 66 euro sunroof

Oh I'm not trying to change your mind. Something about the car seems wrong to me. But I don't know zwitters well enough to put my finger on it. But I know VW used to use what they had on hand sometimes. This seems more than that to me though. Car just has me intrigued is all. _________________ 66 European bug, 66 euro sunroof
