Joe-
All (most) of the air cooled VW's have reserved parking at Kerby's Coney Island at the north west corner of Woodward and Square Lake Road.
The Michigan Vintage VW Club has a presence there. There will probably be 30-40 ACVW's at Kerby's; usually just one Thing, me.
I will probably be there between 9 & 10 AM; can't stay too long, I need to be near Traverse City Saturday Evening.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is an event about 20 years old. On cruise day, Saturday, Woodward Ave. (the main drag of Detroit) is a parking lot; cars move at a walking pace. You'll see everything from fire trucks to motorized bar stools; lots of street rods, muscle cars...everything.
The old cars are already coming out of the wood work; most believe the few days leading up to the cruise are the best because the cars can move.
Between cars and spectators, attendance is about 1 million.

Hope to meet you there; safe travels, Mondshine

Ron, I'll be driving, straight up I75...
Already left 2hrs late, but might try and swing by on the way home Sunday.. If y'all will be around! (Also don't wanna disturb family time)..
Lemme know!

Gary,
I'll try and make my way to that area!! I'm a car guy all around, so I'll be sensory overload with the shine, rumble, and smell of sweet exhaust!!

Had a good time up there, came home on Sat though, instead of Sunday....
Work was completed early, so couldn't justify the extra time....

Enjoyed wrenching on your Thing, Derrek! You've got a great start there!! Stay focused and get 'er Dun!!

Spent Friday with an old high school friend and his dad.. Did some cruising, but didn't stop to browse any parking lots.... Just Too much going on!!

I'll make that trek again someday, with our Thing, and not schedule work in conjunction!

Sorry Ron, didn't make it by..... Clearly! Lol Wink
