I'm still trying to wrap my mind around Robin's passing. Obviously I never meet him but after I heard the news I reflected on how many childhood movies I watched that he was in (I grew up in the 90's). Mrs. Doubtfire, Aladdin, Jumanji, Hook, Jack, Flubber and I'm sure somemore, were always favorites. I'm pretty sure I wore out our VHS copy of Flubber
Of course later I discovered his more adult-orientated movies and fell in love with Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Hamlet, Bicentennial Man, Man of the Year, Good Will Hunting, RV... The list goes on. The Birdcage will always be my favorite though.
Rest in peace to a legend _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

I worked at a video store in the 90s and his movies, especially Mrs. Doubtfire, wouldn't stay up on the shelves very long. Customers used to grab the tapes out of my hand as I was putting them away, sometimes even jumping behind the counter to take them out of the Returns bin!
They always called it "Mrs. Dumbfire" though. Stupid customers! _________________ 89 Syncro GL Westfalia 2.1 WBX/WBXaustSS

Robin Williams passing absolutely stunned me. Especially the part about him taking his own life. He has always been someone that could turn a shitty day into a positive day for me, and I've always thought of him as a huge influence, especially for those of us who live in and around the SF bay area. I can remember Mork and Mindy being one of the first TV's shows I watched on television as a child in the early to mid 80's (reruns). I don't think I've felt this awful about a comedian's passing since the world lost George Carlin.
The worst part is we don't really have that many more comedians who raised the bar the way a select few have over the past 50+ years. Comedy is still funny, and many comedians are funny in the normal "HA-HA" sort of way, but few actually make you realize that you're sitting there listening to something that nobody else on the planet could or would have ever come up with. It's a shame some of these famous comedians can't bring the same joy and laughter to themselves that they bring to millions of others.
RIP Robin Williams... _________________ The economy is in a state of disaster, we have NO time for common sense! |

Saturday Night Deaaaad.... Heeeeeeere's DON PARDO (Sorry for that)
Quote: |
Don Pardo, the magisterial announcer of Saturday Night Live for nearly 40 years — the highlight of seven heard and hardly seen decades at NBC — has died. He was 96.
Pardo died Monday evening, an NBC spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He died in his sleep.
He broke his hip in March 2013, causing him to miss two episodes of the SNL season, but he was back introducing the cast starting in September.

Steven Sotloff, 31, was beheaded in a very sad case of being caught up in someone else's fight.
Quote: |
The hostage, Steven J. Sotloff, is shown in a video kneeling like the previous victim, James Foley, while his masked killer stands above, wielding a knife. |
