|
|
Hi all,
I'm new on here but have been into air-cooled VWs and Porsches for as long as I can remember. As I'm on the prowl for a project ragtop Beetle, a thought stuck me:
Does anyone here know whether any of the VW38 or VW39 'ragtop' prototypes survive? I have seen the 1938 sedan and cabriolet at the Wolfsburg museum in person, and have read the threat re the Lithuanian '38; I also remember reading that there is a '39 sedan in private hands somewhere in Germany...but no ragtop model.
Anyone?

Yeah,... Good luck. The Grundmann's traded a very valuable ($75k+ ? guessing) car for their '38 non sunroof "project". _________________ Jack Staggs

There is no complete 1939 model beetle left, only one 1939 Type 62 survived and the Typ 64 K Berlin Rome car and a NOS Body which was used for a car show in 1939. There are also existing some NOS-sunroofsections which were found at the company in esaten part of Germany who produced the pressing tools.
The Raffay-Car had a later chassis and a 1945 body. In the early 1950s, when they restored the car, nobody cares for "maching numbers". |

Even if you guess something, you should not publish it in internet. Most of the followers don't know the difference between guessing and the reals deal. |
