I always go to a local known machine shop to get my work done. There's always a quick turn-around time and the prices are great, but what if a machine shop was telling you that they did three-angle valve jobs standard, and you found out they were only doing one-angle? I forgot to ask them to leave out the inner springs for the cam break-in, so when I removed them, I found the issue.

I wonder if they even have the capability to do so, or if I should find someone else to do my high performance valve jobs.

Oh btw, the valve job, blast, 1 oversize guide install, and bore to 94 was $200.

Looks like 3 angle job to mee and perfect placement for an intake valve.

Take it back and ask for it to be done correctly, or for a partial refund. Then find a new shop if they can't do it as promised and def a new shop for any future work.

edit: I thought I saw 3 on the seats, but I thought the valves would get more than one cut. I suppose the back cut on the valves is extra. I guess I/we would've look like the idiot customer everybody dreads.

Hmm. Weird. When it was in front of me, I didn't see the additional angles on the seat until I looked at the pic. I need to look again. On the valve, I could not see any additional angles. The heads are used. It might be that originally the set was done with a 3-angle, and that's why the other two are still showing. Then they just hit up the one angle and that's why there's nothing on the valve. Make sense?

The 3 angle goes in the seats, not the valves.
I see 3 angles.

I suppose you would have to specify and pay for the valve to be back cut, to further improve flow.

Looks good to me. Bring them the intake valves ask them to back-cut them, may not charge you anything. Wink

Ok, thanks. I've only disassembled the heads to lube the valves and never to check the valve job. I was under the impression that three different angles were cut into both the valve and the seat to make three different seating surfaces. Thanks for the help.

Near perfect 3 angle valve job and very good seat placement on the valve.

Only extra cut I've ever done was if the new face on the valve put a knife edge on it, then I've cut that back a tiny bit (please excuse the technical jargon) to give the edge of the valve more meat- but that caused problems with the position- in the end I would have been better off with new valve. +1

Yep and the valve looks good, no need for back cut IMO.

Looks good, but I would do one more thing. Looks like it is a 60-45-30 valve job. I would cut a 75 on the I.D. just enough to round off that sharp transition from the port to the seat. Don't need to remove much just enough to round and smooth the seat. One thing I have learned from Darren at DRD is you NEVER want to have any transition more than 15 degrees.
