The plastic top door cap for this area was added at chassis # 276125, making it a relatively early '64 model year running change.
BTW--I don't believe there are any Type 34 GURUS out there. Rather, there are many well intentioned folk sharing what they know in a variety of formats. The car changed so much, so often, it's really hard to get a handle on all the finer details. Nothing is (yet) in one spot. |

Aptly put. These cars are a real experience in continuing education- that's for sure! _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

What a relief! I thought someone had butchered the door, and two less things for me to worry about. Another oddity on my '63, t doesn't have the heater knob by the shifter, it has the dual levers by the handbrake. This is all new to me since everything I have owned (type 3) has been '64 and later. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.
I recycle old cars and parts, other than when I rot, that's as Green as I am going to get.
Thanks to my Tesla driving neighbors, I feel more relaxed driving my SUBURBAN and old VW's.

The knob style heater control changed to the two lever style control on the Type 34 at chassis number 0215175, according to the Workshop Manual. |

Do you guys know why pot metal starts disintegrating? I have a pair of (at least outside chrome) perfect signal bases, but the inners are bubbling and corroded. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

Spoken like a true Type 34 GURU. |
Agreed. I got several PM from Greg when I started working on my own car, and had to save them, so I could go back and digest all the info he gave me (it was overwhelming). I really did appreciate the info though, but it was a lot for a first timer to go thru and make heads or tails of it.
So yes, he definitely sounds like a true T-34 GURU. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

That's exactly why i ask HERE on the samba. I get simple unbiased answers that don't make me feel dumb when I ask. In return, I like to do
it in the same manner when I think I may have the answer to someone else's question. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

I just got a USA plate for my 68 T34. Then found out the the same day that it was a tourist delivery and not brought back by a guy in the armed services! _________________ Tom Reay

generally agreed. I don't really bitch about prices, good shit costs good money. And I was not limiting the asshole remark to any forum, I mean the people in the general are good, but some true assholes have shown me just how big of an asshole they are before, during, and after I owned mine. I won't miss them a bit, and luckily they don't mess with other vw types at all |

The upolstery guy brought my seats by last night so I could check them out and give him any last-minute instructions. The cross-seam strings haven't been pulled down yet, and the sides and bottoms haven't been 'anchored' yet in the back. I think they look a little bloated, but that with some tension on the material, they flatten out a little.

Drove it for real today for the first time in 6 years.
Just from My house in Los Osos to Morro Bay, but got a good idea of how sweet it's going to be. Still stomping my left foot into the carpet looking for a clutch, but I'm getting used to the automatic. The car is very smooth and quiet - and fast! Wish I could say I'm done, but still a bunch of little things to deal with, but it's almost there - and I can drive it!
