original Bentley for $50
in worn down condition
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1619154
why not just buy a brand new one for the same price
if really was a "original" Bentley (its not)
odds are it would not go all the way up to 79
it would have stopped at whatever year it was printed
and it would have color diagrams in the electrical section
color diagrams are what make a 40 year old book
that's still being printed today worth the $50
not 30 years of wear and tear on it _________________ order your BAY WINDOW T-SHIRT here http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1526918

Not sure if there are any local places to get quality parts, but there are many, many vendors around the country willing to ship things to you quickly. _________________ nothing |

Ugh. Been searching and waiting for months for a part to appear, and when I find it, I email them to purchase. I FINALLY hear back 11 days later...
"Just sold it"
Good grief. _________________ My Bus Restoration Blog

well at least your not overpaying for it on ebay
this auction is ending in less than an hour
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191275146208?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
its for the the little allum "flaps" that go between shroud and heater boxes
on type-4 engine
just the flaps covers not included
bidding is upto $60
I used to feel like a thief selling them for $30 a pair when I have them
now I feel like I missed the boat and no longer up to date on
current going rates for parts
im more in shock that whinning right now
only 2-3 years ago
louver windows sold for $40-$50........... now $125
nose emblem you could find for $25-$30 all day long .......now $100
middle seat used to be hard to sell for $200 now the average asking price is $500for turd
if this trend continues im going to become a horder
ok ok I admit, im already a small horder
I mean a big horder that will need counselling to be convinced to sell
currently my garage is outperforming my 401k _________________ order your BAY WINDOW T-SHIRT here http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1526918

Holy Shit at 23.5K I expect my bus to have zero rust, a mini-bar with a broad selection, and a golden toilet that wipes my ass for me

"...but what do you expect its 40 years old."
This is something you write in an ad for a 2,300 bus, not a 23,000 bus. For 23,000 I expect it to be damn near perfect. _________________ '78 Westy |

So if these ladies were stuffed in the bus, along with a bidet, you'd be good to go.

I bought some late Bay heater boxes from them and pics were seemingly okay…until I received them and a solidified mix of dirt and oil that looked like metal in the pics was cleaned off to show a rusty mess. I could not get a refund of any sort because I was slow(2 months) to pick them up from my friend in Seattle. Shipping to Canada was seemingly too expensive….but it would have been worth it in the long run if I could have got some of my money back. ……So as usual don't trust pics, no matter how "detailed". In this case I couldn't agree with your statement more! PS It is listed as $8900, not $8K |
I tried to buy several parts from them as they were parting out a late Westy. After being told I'd get photos of the parts, I heard nothing further, until a couple weeks later when I asked what was up, I was told the Westy was no longer available for parts. Yet, last time I checked, it was still being advertised as "parting out". These days I cringe every time I consider responding to an ad for Westy parts, as most of the time it doesn't actually result in buying any parts. Can't figure out what game these jokers are playing. |
What about this from them. Do these look nos or do they look like the used ones replaced by the new ones and put back in the boxes?

Those are NOT new old stock, they are used. Besides the obvious dirt, you can see the impressions the hose clamps left in the rubber hoses. I've had a few N.O.S. injectors in the past and they do not have that. Someone likely stuck the old ones back in the boxes after they changed them out and they got tossed in with some other parts and now here they are being sold as N.O.S. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"
