|
|
I have a 1960 European bug with peanuts and semaphores. On my car there is a black 6V switch above the headlight fuse box by the front of the gas tank on the driver’s side. Can anyone tell me what it is for? I am trying to determine if the car was wired to be able to use both the semaphores and blinker peanuts or it was for just the peanuts. Any help would be good. Thanks!

The only way to know for certain what it is and what works how is to trace the wiring and see what is hooked up to what. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

Looks like some sorta relay of some kind. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

That relay looks pretty slick- as does the attached harness. You are providing no background on your car: where it's from, how long it's been off the road, what currently works vs. not...
So, I'd bet a donut it came from a country that required blinkers rather than segaphones as a safety requirement way back in the 60s. It is well-done- so me thinks a dealership did it and yes, it was to retain the smegapores. Enjoy the wire chase! _________________

Thanks for the reply. I haven’t tested the wiring yet. It does look factory or dealer installed. I haven’t been able to find other cars with this feature installed. I am still wire chasing but that all for the comments and help! |
