If you are fond of the color & want a camper & can get a $1100-1400.
price cut you should get it. Camper models aren't getting cheaper,
a creased door is easier to repair / replace than other welded-in-place
sheetmetal, and the hot-start problem can be ignored by parking on grades
everywhere you go and roll-starting in 2nd gear. If you find yourself too
lazy or out of funds to fix any of the issues, just sell it for 20-25% more than
you paid two to three years from now!

Standard height garage doors are 7' and these don't fit in them without flattening the tires. My riviera top is all scuffed up from stuffing it in the garage. That's just an FYI. The rest of the pics look promising.

That does not look like a $9,500 bus to me. Take your time.

Unfortunately, in Wisconsin it is. Here that is considered "mint". Smile

The tires look a bit old. I would plan on an upgrade there.

I would pass. For that kind of money you can get a nice Westfalia. Based on the interior I would question what other hidden "customizations" are lurking.

I'd wait for one with original interior, but if that floats your boat then I'd get him to drop down to 8000. There will be things that need attention. "Not completely reliable, but starts every time?" What does that mean?

Mileage?? engine?

That Riviera missing most its original interior which in my opinion greatly reduces its value. Great platform for a custom job. I it's rust free and most mechanicals sorted 8k would be a solid offer.

Yep. It's difficult to demand perfection in this region - you'll just find yourself waiting forever and never buying *anything*. Sad

Here's another midwest Bus from the classifieds (Illinois):

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Relatively similar specs... but more original, a bit better shape, from a multiple-Bus owner, rebuilt engine, and with documented history. Basically, it checks off all of the boxes that people have complained about on the $9,500 Bus in Wisconsin. But this one pictured is $14,000.

I'm in Madison and have seen that on Craigslist for a while now, I think the price was dropped at least once already. I'd be happy to go have a look for you to give it the once over. I was actually thinking of going to have a look anyway out of curiosity.

It looks like a nice bus and you should take up the offer from the other poster to go inspect it. While he's asking $14k (and it might be worth it), it's what he's asking. When I bought my bus, after inspecting it and showing the owner what all was wrong with it, I ended up paying $4k less. He did have it listed way to high for all the issues it had.

Shit, for $10-$14K you could buy a rust free bus from the southwest and ship it home. Check out this post. $2500 plus what $1000 for shipping is a great deal for someone in you area of the US. Sink another $6500 into it creating what you want and boom you got a sweet rust free rig. Just saying.

I've seen this bus up close. Not a $9500 bus IMHO. Nice for Wisconsin but overpriced. Needs a lot of cosmetic work.
