I've seen photos of split ovals with the headliner in the center of the roof only. The area around the rear window and quarter panel area is left painted. Was this how they came from the factory? I ask because I also see photos with full headliners. Just curious.

Pre '49 Beetles had the center section headliner.

1950-later Standard model Beetles continued with the center only section

Starting with 1950 DELUXE model Beetles, they got the full headliner.

The small headliner on Standard models continued well into the sixties.

OK. Excuse my ignorance since I should know this. The difference between a standard and a deluxe model. Standard is european and deluxe US? And thanks for the info guys.
