If you already have a Hazet item a paintshop can scan it and give you the closest matching paint by mixing paint.

Picked up this 1950s (1956-1958?) Hazet Assistent 161L. Lots of small differences with the later Hazet Assistents; top shelf is less deep, has strengtheners underneath, the middle shelf has different sides and the chain connection is at the top and not the bottom, in the "bucket" at the bottom the connection of the uprights is different. One obvious difference is that these use a different rubber at the sides.

Would anyone be able to send me a picture / dimensions of the rubber correct for such early Hazet Assistent?

I'd be interested in learning of a source for the old rubber and silver beading also. Some of my early Hazet assistents are missing the rubber. Does anybody have a source for the old style Continental wheels?

Thanks GermanBay! Yes mine has also the yellow lettering for "Assistent" as I found after removing paint but not the lock within the top shelf but uses the locking bar. And it is indeed ever so slightly less high as the other ones I have.

Bought a second of these early ones from a different seller but proofed to be used in the EXACT same garage in the 1950s. That one still had some of the original rubber so I got 50 meters reproduced. It was completed today and should have it available in lengths of about 1.3 meters in 2 weeks from now.

Just got another old Hazet tool cart, still dealing with it so I cannot show any finished pic...

Trying to date the cart, I have some doubts.

Just one front wheel with blocking system, old style.
Capital letters on the HAZET logo
Black and blue knobs
Top tray painted with hammered paint (not gray)
Rear Continental tyres

anyone? My doubt comes with the capital letters /post 65??) with the early blocking system for the front wheels...

So after they changed the Logo in 1965 and had new brakes at the 16x Assistents in 1970, yours must be from between 1965 (or '66 - don´t know how long it took to change all the stamps) and 1969.

(The 172 HD was produced with these old brakes a little longer...)

Here is my assistent, just got it yesterday. From a guy who used to be a mechanic at a vw dealership. Then owned his own import repair business. He said he got it 25 years ago so late 80's to early 90's I'm guessing.

It is in dusty but un-used condition. Has some paperwork, the original lock, and oil? Or hand cleaner? Still in factory packaging.

My question is how do u get the legs to fold down? I don't wanna force anything. Can some please explain / walk me through the process of folding the uprights?

Normally you have to turn the upper black handles anticlockwise as shown on the paperwork. That should loosen the mechanism.

Maybe also put some WD 40 on the hinges if they were not fold down since around 25 years...

...if that does not work I could ask for you at HAZET directly.

I'm wondering about the recessed Allen head bolts, if I need to loosen those?

I can totally unscrew both top handles and they have long rods attatched. I am wondering if the uprights twist to Fold or pull up and fold down or just fold straight down. I can't figure it out?!

WD-40 can't hurt I guess. It was just so too hot in the garage to keep messing with it. I figured I'd ask for more advice before getting frustrated with it.
