Heart tail lights

Can someone help me identify these tail lights. The tan ones do not have a vw stamp in the metal on the bottom but the lenses are embossed outward with hella and the k1-----. The red ones are stamped with the vw emblem on the bottom but the lenses have white stamped hella logo and k1-----. Also they have different (drain hole?) positions.

The tan housings are off a mid-Oct '54-July '55 non-U.S./Canada market car, as the drain holes are factory. The heart lenses should be dark amber and there should be a date code stamped in ink inside the housing. The VW stamp on the bottom can be hard to see if it was poorly stamped and filled in by paint. The VW stamp is easy to see on the housing to the left.

The red housings are pre-Nov '54, as the drain holes are not factory. Look for a date stamp if the housings haven't been repainted on the inside.

The date stamp will consist of a letter, followed by 2 to 4 numbers.

Both have the ink logo, just hard to see in the picture. how can you tell if the heart lenses are original. Are they glass? Some i have noticed have a single digit number molded into the lip of the backside.
