No, I don't own a VW yet but just give me time. My wife and I use to own a '69 Westy many years ago and I've been recently dying to own another one. So figured I'll join a forum to help inspire me to get one.

My goal is to get a mid 80's that is in a decent running condition, so I can just get up and go camping. These past 2 years, we rented a Westy from California Campers and figured it was time to get serious. I saw a very nice mid 80's in a parking lot and the owner told me they joined this forum to help them find their rig and it worked out.

Hopefully I won't have to sell my '68 Mustang or my '50 chebbie truck in order to finance the Westy project. Maybe I'll just sell the wife. LOL.

Thats probably the financially prudent choice. I recently read that the advantage of pimping over drug dealing is that you can only sell the drugs once...you can sell the wife several times a day. YMMV and good luck Wink

You might ask WCC- how much they spend on their "new to them " campers for rent before they rent them- give you some idea what it will cost to get you "soon to be yours" new bus up and reliable.

Go and lurk the vanagon section so you have an idea what to look for when getting yours.

Well hello from Downtown SF (Nob Hill). Smile

Let me know if you find any cool events around this way - they all seem up in Sacramento...

Yeah, Hi from the Sunset District.

At the event in Antioch a while back, I got a flyer for an event _in San Francisco_

disclaimer: I've never been, and I don't have any other connection with it, except having a flyer with the announcement.

Deutschland Dubs has their 3rd annual San Francisco Air-Cooled Roundup Picnic!
Sunday October 12, 2014. 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. *All VWs up to 1979 Welcomed!
Location: Presidio Main Post

I guess for more info check the book of faces for DeutschlandDubs

Well, that's because you sorta gotta get away from the Bay for decent camping...

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I should keep an eye out for local VW gatherings. And yes I am snooping in the mid latter 80's board to get educated.

I've been away from the VW world for such a long time. This is a nice change.
