So I was pulling the alternator out of my car, and before I started disconnecting everything I took the AMF off and saw a single black wire with a crimp on female spade connector just floating around behind the air intake boot.
It comes through a grommeted hole the firewall tin on the right side of the car, next to the fuel pressure regulator, and runs up the right side of the shroud, and ends behind the air intake boot.

It is in the center of the first picture, and a little hard to see, so the second picture is zoomed in a little better.
This is right how it was sitting before I disconnected anything else.
I can't see anywhere this could plug in, does anyone know what this wire could go to ?

Maybe: Reverse light power feed.
Once upon a time it was connected to the coil (+) via a fuse hanging in the engine bay

No it just ends there.
It is about a foot too short to reach the coil, but I will go out now and see if I can find the fuse holder for the back up lights.

Thanks guys, it looks like it went to the reverse light fuse holder .

I could have sworn that was further over on the left side of the engine compartment.
Maybe I'll extend the wire while I have it apart so I can actually get to the fuse, if I ever have to, without tearing the AFM off. Very Happy

Thanks again, this place is awesome, wow that was even faster than I could get my Bentley book open. Very Happy
