Well it was a nice night so I took the wife out for dinner and we took the signature Manx , out ,we were driving for about five minutes down to the waterfront , and we hit the traffic circle , I hit the brakes and my foot goes to the floor , at about 25 mph , so I used the good old emergency brake , and slowed us down , my wife didn't take it as calmly as I, did so we limped it home on the E-brake and grabbed a different buggy , found a loose pin on the floor , and the rod is going all the way in the master cylinder , pretty sure there is fluid in the reservoir, buts its dark now , well another exciting buggy ride |

Not sure what year pedals you have but it sounds like the pin that connects the pushrod to the pedal. There should have been a metal tab which folds over it to hold it in place. Should look like this with the tab in place if it has the cast pedals

Yep if pin came out, the locking tab is probably missing....You can make one or buy one (I believe they are still available)...

My boss told me I need to work on my mutli-tasking. So now when I use the bathroom at work I surf The Samba on my iPhone. |

With a VW when you teach yourself to do the repairs and maintenance you usually make every possible mistake once. They're great learning opportunities and usually a mistake just damages something which you need to replace. Mistakes on the brakes, steering and suspension are the ones that may never even give you a chance to know what went wrong. You really need to follow the book on those. |
