I forgot to post the trans a few months ago so...
It's a '71 case (dual side cover, but late TO bearing) Stock German 3.88 R/P, 3.78 1st (out of SB), 2.06 2nd, 1.26 3rd, 0.89 4th, Super diff, HD cover, thrust plate, welded 3rd/4th, all splined gear sets (no keys), and of course, steel shift forks. This should handle any later power upgrades It also has all 944 NA brake hardware, and '68 axles and tubes. The long wheel studs have been replaced with shorter ones since pic.

Welded CW 69mm cranks are getting $$$$ got this CB 4140 CW 69mm for better price.
Case ready to close (almost)
Did you have to clearance the block for the 69mm stroker crank to work? _________________ Can't polish a turd!

No, 69mm is stock stroke. _________________ SPL

Motor in, and cam break in done! No leaks, and no bad sounds! Fuel filter location is temporary just so I could see fuel during break in.

What are you using to grind your welds back? |

A 3M 3/32 thick cut off wheel to knock the top of the weld off 1st, 2" 36 grit disc on air angle grinder next, then 6" DA with 80 grit.
*note* keeping heat out the panel during welding and grinding are key to less hammer and dolly work. _________________ SPL

How do you like the motor? How does it pull? Easily goes 65 mph? Just curious cause Im building a motor similar to yours. |
It runs smooth and strong. A few steep hills around here slow it down. I have to admit though... I like a heavy right foot, and the 30pict carb was killing me, and never got the idle rich enough to my liking (didn't try real hard ) So, now it does have a set of dual 34's on it, and a stainless sidewinder header just showed up today! It's my main ride at the moment so, holding off on header till weekend. _________________ SPL

Crappy cell pic, but new carbs, and new "stock looking" CB serpentine pulley set up, "36 horse" shroud (modified for flaps and thermostat) 100 miles on it, and love it!

I finally have something good to show. I got a friend to stitch up a seat cover for me. I know its not correct for '62, but I'm happy with it. He also gave me the extra material, and I used that to cover my Werksberg ABS panels I got last week. I'll take it for a quick 100 mile spin tomorrow. It should be a little more quite now anyway.

I've been enjoying my SC so much, I have not posted much about it. It's been running like a top for 4000 miles now. So, here are a few pix from today cruising around my neck of the woods.

Thanks Kurt, one day I will tear mine down to the level you are doing. But, until then, I'm driving the wheels off! _________________ SPL

Nice pics! I was thinking there was something familiar about them and I just realized where they were taken. I've stayed at the HO campground many times. That old Webb Brothers station is really cool too. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |
