I'm biased.
That is a nice bus. Looks pretty solid too. Was there any interior in it?

For how nice your bus is it would be foolish not to buy that hatch! It looks like a perfect match.

I will post my find here. It's the 61 swivel seat camper I found when I was riding passenger in a bay bus. Original paint and in good condition without much rust.

Picked this up last weekend.
1964 european mouse grey standard. I'm the second registered owner. bus was bought new in Germany and the orginal owner imported it to California in 1981. Bus has been sitting for the last 10 years. The guy I got it from only recently purchased it from his friend/orginal owner, but decided to let it go as he has too many projects - mostly vintage american stuff.

Sweet bus, like to seem some inside shots. |
you bet - picss arent the greatest - im really not that good at taking pics....
cockpit - notice the funky knob sticking out of the dash - thats some sort of e-flasher switch that has been adapted. im pretty sure its aftermarket, but german period correct aftermarket. the orginal owner had it installed very early into the buses life. it works too! You can also see the locking steering colum. the keys have long since been lost and a normal ignition switch has been put in.
here you can see the the passenger door panel and if you look close the passenger kick panel. unfortunately the driver side door panel and kick panel are lost, along with the cab rubber mat. recent addition of fuzzy dice done by my kid.
OG KPH seedo
rear seat and long interior panel. the seat is split at the seams (fronts seats too) and might be repairable. Also temporary storage of the rear bumper while i sort out the mechanicals - speaking of which - the bus runs and drives. tune-up, cleaned out fuel system and installed a (temporary) header/qp muffer to get her going. put 4 kilometers on it today.
bulkhead all there and intact. panels and trim in pretty good shape and should clean up nicely. you can also see a vintage am/fm blaupunkt radio in the dash. I havent looked closely at it yet to see if it was hacked to put it in, but it works!
interior shot showing og headliner. its in great shape. 2 or 3 really small tears and that it. you can also see the kid fiddling with the cargo door panel. _________________ 67 bug x3

A few still sitting out on the Prairies, you need to go south. I am constantly amazed at the amount of older cars just rotting. Most of the Prairies was set out in square miles broken up into quarters. It seems every second square mile has a yard out the back where cars were just parked. There's all sorts of stuff from 20's/30's through to 80's. Lots of 50's stuff from pick ups and things with fins through to VW's. |

They "were" indeed amber and red. It's just that these early Hellas had a thin coat of paint inside the clear plastic lenses. Old as they now are, the paint shrinks, cracks and peels off. I have a set just like yours. They were dirty and when I tried to clean them, the paint just came off. I now use red and amber bulbs.
I believe the newer lenses are made of colored plastic versus just paint. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

ahh thanks for the info...i've been sorta baffled by them. i got red and amber bulbs for the tail lights ready to go so i'll just leave them clear as they are now. _________________ 67 bug x3
