I polished 1/2 of my deluxe trim & getting St. Pete painted at the shop.
I'm amazed, with the right wheel how quick it was. _________________ BreckSkier

Bought "The Turd" a blue cargo mat made out of unobtainium, and scrubbed it up for her. Getting ready to silicone up the cracks from the back side. Did that on my front mat and it's held up very nicely.

Getting ready to replace the rocker on the left side of "The Turd", so I used some graffiti remover and exposed about three more square feet of OG paint in preparation for her impending surgery. I've also rustored the window frames along the way:

Put new rubber nipples on the gas door ('67) and LOVE that the door now sits flush with the body instead of 1/4" recessed! Also washed the rusty ass with CLR and then applied TR3 resin polish to richen up the color without making it look waxed or polished...really like that product. Look closely around the dealer plate area and see the difference with CLR (getting rid of some rust) and the TR3:

I am pretty tired but I spent part of yesterday and part of today rebuilding my 1963 buses brake system: four new front wheel cylinders (Varga) and new brake shoes, two new rear wheel cylinders and new brake shoes, and a new master cylinder. The drums were good and I scuffed them up (the iiner surface) with sandpaper. The front wheel bearings were replaced over ten years ago when I fully restored the bus so they were alright; new grease, though. Now I get to go to downtown Chico and drink a couple of beers. _________________ Don't worry; be happy. (Baba) |

Stripped down my bus today, heading to the body /paint shop in the morning. Will have to remove the front glass, headlights/blinkers and mirrors when I get there. Pearl White as it was from the factory, would have loved to save the OG paint but someone got busy with a BIG grinder on the paint under the lower color thats on there now .

Congrats Bill! I can't wait to see the progress and fresh-out-of-the-paint-booth photos of your Bus! I'm guessin' it won't be going on the Solvang run? Are you coming to Solvang? I'm drivin' something of you-know-who's with my wife. John Henry and wife are also going/driving something too... Hope to see you there in a couple of weekends.

Thanks Bill, it wont be ready hopefully I will. Kinda nervious about the paint, new paint is usually "The Kiss of Death" and they usually find their way to the chopping block very quickly. See you there> |

While waiting for arrival of my next batch of Funky Green presents, I have been going around "The Turd"section by section with TR3. Look at the difference in the OG paint on the front of my door. I swear...this stuff can add thousands to the value of a bus:

I also got my heat working. My bus came without the long (over 4 feet) center heat tube. I got a 2.5 inch diameter replacement from napa and primered it. I got the idea from another thread here on TheSamba . Coincidentally the author of that thread only lives a few miles away in W.Pa. Waiting for a wolburg west package with new cable for heater. In the meantime I have the exchangers wired open, Gets a little warm in the afternoon though. |

Replaced my 6v regulator with another on my 1960 Mango. The generator light was taking 2-3 minutes to go out after starting and I have a roadtrip planned and don't want any trouble. I put in a clean, used regulator off my shelf. Good results...red light went out immediately when I started up......BUT.....I noticed that my turn signal indicator light clicked really bright and loud. My headlights were the brightest I'd ever seen on a 6volt car. The next day a parking light burned out, followed by a headlight. So I put a voltmeter to the regulator. Yup....8.9 volts. Someone must have adjusted it for an 8volt system.....
I've replaced it and now all's quiet on the Western Front. One good side effect....horn volume! A guy tried changing lanes, didn't see me and we nearly collided. I scared the %&*# out of him with that horn.....gawd it's nice to be heard for once.... _________________ Happy to be alive. Hey Dad, Mom, wish you were here to see all this.

Not completely sealed up yet. Need to replace the gels.

Does there happen to be a tutorial about this process here on the samba? I have a speedo for my 57 that will need this treatment. I am sure I could figure it out, but having a guiding hand always helps. I would be thrilled to have results as nice as yours. _________________ nothing |
