Earl
Probably one of the nicest builds I have seen. I am hoping to get to Carlisle to see it in person. I hope my build comes out half as nice. Rich |

Rich im sure your build will turn just as nice as long as you take your time and pay attention to all the little details. One problem I have is that I get to excited to take that first drive and tend to hurry in the end which leads to mistakes. So you just have to fight that urge to drive it and stay on track with your plan.So today I finished up most everything so I could get it to the glass people,so heres some pics of what it looks like almost finished. The hood looks a little funky because the protective wrap from the carbon fiber wrap is still on it so the glass guy doesn't scratch anything. Thanks for looking Earl

Wow! Turned out great, Earl. Thing looks like a little sledge hammer!
How does the Subi sound with that dual exhaust?
Hope it brings miles of smiles! |

Impressive build! By far the nicest buggy I've seen!
I'm curious about the weight and power you've got here? |

The two eyes seem to be focusing on the next prey. Something along those lines: ...today I feel like eating a Porsche for breakfast...
But honestly, this thing is art - no matter how much it does shout 'I am a mean machine!'.
Great job so far! _________________ '73 Beach Buggy

Earl,
Looks like its coming together nicely! I understand what you mean about wanting to drive it and rushing to finish. Its hard to keep emotions in check when the finish line is so close! Thanks for sharing this awesome build! I know you will enjoy this buggy for years to come! _________________ Or you can call me………Tim

Thanks for all the great compliments guys,it really helps keep me going when I hear good or even critical comments about any of my builds.I will try to get some video but I cant even post pics, my 13 year old son does that for me so Im not so sure about video. The pipes sound nice and quiet at idle but have a nice bark to them when revved up.I was hoping the head lights would look ok and now that I see them on it I kinda am starting to like them,I just wanted to use something different that I hadnt seen before. The glass guy didnt get finished today so no pics to show but he promised me saturday morning I could pick it up.I have to have it back by morning so I can finish it up during the day and get it loaded on the trailer cause I leave for dirt bike riding for a week sat night and wont be home till next friday night ,only to wake up and drive to Carlisle saturday morning ,nothing like working to the last minute.Again thanks for your great comments, Earl |

jigga the wheels are XXR brand in 18x10 rear 17x9 front I don't remember what model or back spacing they were but if you look them up im sure all the different styles and sizes are on their website.Well its loaded up and ready to go .Im sorry I cant drive it there but no time to registure it or do a shake down run before I drive 2 1/2 hours away,so unfortanatly its going on a trailer. The glass guy didn't do such a good job so Im a little upset about that but its something I can fix later,he couldn't get the miters right on the corners of the seal so he just glued it in.On a up note though the stereo sound great for an open air car,it has all JL audio components some of which we used in another build so we like their quality.Sorry no pics, but my sons not home and I gotta get to bed were leaving at mid night for a 12 hour drive to west Virginia to ride so Ill post up some pics when I get back, thanks guys Earl |

Hey earl. I have the same stance xxr wheel (different style). My front wheels don't go full turn before the rub on the beam components. Looks like you have the same problem. I have been thinking about how to fix it but like the look of the tucked front wheels, any ideas on yours or just planning on living with it? I'm super envious of your buggy by the way. All great choices. |

Esmoke the build is done but still needs to have the ECU programed /tuned and I kinda lost interest in it as I have been spending all my free time on my sons truck.(see above post)Theres a couple VW shows coming up that I may try to get it tuned for,so well see how that goes.Ive already considered selling it to possibly finance my next build so maybe itll show up in the classifieds ,who knows. Thanks for asking Earl |

kellison I cant really say how its holding up ,because as soon as I finished building it I moved on to another project and kinda lost interest in this one.Its been sitting in my shop with a car cover on it since the Carlisle show.Im really kinda a 4x4 kind of guy and after my son bought a 5 ton military truck I went out and bought a Unimog and have been tricking that out for the last couple months, so sorry I cant give up any info on the durability of the wrap. |
