That's how I ended up having mine built,I couldn't get a straight answer on rim dimensions from the local shop that had the actual rim on display 10 feet from the counter. I did lots of measuring, cut the center out of a stock wheel, tacked a barrel from a junkyard rim on and came up with a size that worked and sent my stock centers off to be re-rimmed.
after that we threw them in the oven with a coat of white and a bunch of ice pearl in the clear. they don't photograph worth a damn though because of the pearl

Do you know if they can mate a 16" rim with that original centre? I'm just curious cause I don't really know that much about what rim profiles are available to match the stock centre.

I don't think that won't fit. The center of the 16 inch rim is bigger so the 15 inch center may not be accommodated. Unless someone may have done if before then I may be wrong _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

as mentioned above there are "drop center hoops" that you can do 15" og centers with those hoops. i have it written down around here somewhere but i have notebooks FULL of random shit like that so actually finding any of it is near impossible hahaha....

Are you going to narrow these 9X16 wheels to 7X16, so they might fit on your notch? Try your 7X15 on the back to see how they fit.

Haha yeah I still need to do some checking when I get to that point. I have a extra set of fenders that I will flare to see if they can fit otherwise I'll just keep the stock wheels and run those on something else _________________ 64 Type 3 Notchback

Those look like a set of 5x130 Ronals. I was going to purchase a set of those in the 2 piece style rims, but the offset was wrong. Didn't want to use spacers to push them out. Looks nice though. _________________ 68 Fastback Build: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5396323#5396323 |

I'm gonna powder coat the beauty rings of my 67 Fasty.....i know I want them to be black, but I'm not sure on the finish. Should I go with a matte or a glossy finish? This would just be the rings. I'm leaning toward matte myself, to bring out the shiny VW logo on the hubcap. _________________ 1967 Fastback (sold) |

Can you get a clear pic of the rim? I'm only asking, as those look like 36 spoke Shelby's. That's what I have on my Notch. I just picked up 2 more, so I could have a matching spare (only took me 15 years). These are a fairly rare rim. Here's a pic of them together. I polished the right one to match my other 4 on the car.

Here's what I'm using, and a pic of them on my Notch.
And no, I'm not offering them up, as it took me 15 years just to find 2 more rims. Just so you know, these are from the early to mid 70's, which is why they are so hard to find. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Yup, 15 years. But, they're the 36 spoke rims, versus the 32 spoke rims you currently have on your car. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Bob and Jesus, you're killing me....
I've been looking for a set of those rims for a long time too (although only about 7 years). I pretty much gave up looking since it was so difficult. If you come across another set, PLEASE let me know. I have 4 x original 14" fuchs that I could add to the offer to sweeten the deal _________________ 1969 Squareback, 1776cc
