I'll keep my American 48 IDA's. Thank-you. They work just fine.

Thank you for letting me know Neil! Guess that good to know if I ever need to seel them but they've been good to me so I'm very reluctant. Although I think I'm gonna need a little more carb for my 2387 once I get it built. And damn, a 12.8 quarter mile! Impressive video clip too! Thats what I'm shooting for with my 2387 build! Not a daily but a weekend street car with some track time here and there. Sorry for stepping on your thread Dodesvw.

Don't mean to jack the thread, but would these be considered
Spanish Webers ? Down at the bottom there is a statement
regarding an address and license with a Spanish orgin.

why don't you ask the seller? I know that linkage and filters are junk and should be immediately replaced.

Simply for the fact that I was hoping for a neutral or
unbiased answer. I was thinking someone might of
bought a pair. One many times has to take answers
from sellers selling such items with a grain of salt.

I switched my crappy steel (more like tin) filter bases and tops for CB aluminum... no more clogged idle jets!

This morning I called this seller on ebay looking to buy dual weber 40 IDF carbs. I asked where they were made. He said "USA". $589 with free shipping for the 40 IDF's was very attractive. I am really not sure what to do. Hard for me to pay an extra $200 to $250 for what might be the same thing...

Education can be expensive. Let us know how it works out.

"Spanish Origin" is like "German Quality", = CHINESE

Haha, yeah it can and not to ad you run the risk of personal injury while kickin yourself in the ass! Unfortunately it does suck to have to sell your car to buy carbs for it! Kinda counter productive to say the least. Just where the price of good parts has gone and there's not much we can do about it. Just save your money until you can buy a good part and buy it once. I've learned the hard way on some things and it sucks buying the better parts after the cheap ones fail and get tossed.

building a VW now has never been cheaper. Yeah there are some junky parts, but it costs half now what it did 30 years ago.

I remember a good crank was anywhere from $700-1200, rods $600. Heads $1500. It is true good cases were pretty easy to find, but a lot of stuff cost a small fortune to get. Remember that back then min wage was like $3, so coming up with $4k for a strong engine took forever. But guys did it because they were true enthusiasts.

Well, I wasn't driving 30 years ago but I do remember 20 years ago and yeah I guess you're right. Heads and cranks were still real costly back then and out of reach for me but I do remember 2275 turnkeys being thousands less than now but that's probably got a lot to do with the quality of parts being used just like now. Let me ask you this though, are all of the current Webers in production being made in China? In other words, can we still get a "good set" new from the correct vendors?

there are 2 types of "Genuine Weber" carbs.

Spanish

"USA" (Made in China, assembled in North Carolina). These are HORRIBLE

we only sell Spanish Webers.
