Bit the bullet and dropped the old girl at a mechanic yesterday! The fuel-pump took a crap on me and I don't have time or energy to deal with it on my own: leave this to a professional!
Looking forward to being able to tool around in a VW again (even if it is with a squeegee in one hand) this autumn & winter! _________________ Be kind…

Anyone have a line on a T3 EFI pump for 1971?
Mechanic cannot source one…are we really using 1990 Ford Ranger truck pumps?
Is there someone who's rebuilding them? _________________ Be kind…

Actually it's the 85 Ford ranger frame mounted fuel pump. It's the Airtex E2000 pump. O'Reilly's sells a precison brand pump that cross references that number for 85.99.
Or, you can get Jim Adney to rebuild your Bosch pump for either 75 or 125, depending on what's wrong with it.
Here's a thread with pics and sketches you can download for your mechanic, so he can install it.

I’d love to have my OG fuel pump rebuilt, but sadly the garbage people at Ashley VW in Portland removed and then stole it after they “wanted” and then refused to work on Audrey.
In a pinch, is there some reason I cannot simply zip-tie the new pump in place? (He asked, 12 years later…)
Also, anyone returning southbound from Portland with an empty flatbed willing to collaborate in bringing Audrey to Eugene (my new home)?

zip-ties are an accepted method for fuel pump/filter/hose support at the beam. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Shit. Just when property values were going up...
I'm in Springtucky, and I have an Adney rebuilt on the shelf along with whatever bits you need to install it. I also have a dolly you can borrow if you have something to hitch it to to move Audrey- (I don't).
Welcome to the hood. Thought you were internet- dead! Weren't you here for the great notchboy migration party of 2009? Or was it 2008? That was when he moved from Seattle to Texass in freaking December in his Notchback, poor sap.
On the other hand, if memory serves, you may have joined the gang in Puddletown on the way down but not come further South. What a gang that was! We had so many people here for that party the house and the shop were both full- all the guys were in the shop smoking cigars and talking VWs while our wives and SOs were in the house by the fireplace talking about what losers we were.
Seems the whole PNW Type 3 gang has blown away in the wind, along with the DDB. It's too bad, really.
Sending a PM. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Good to hear you're still alive Tram. Your buddy Brian called me wondering if I'd heard from you, I hadn't. He also hadn't seen any new posts from you, he hadn't.
We all have been wondering where you've been. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I was there for that. But, yes, only the PDX night. It was the most fun I have ever had surrounding cars!
I am getting Audrey running (in PDX) this week—if even at best limpingly. To head to the coast—COVID means relocating. Sorry we’ve not had a chance for a bourbon and a cigar yet. _________________ Be kind…

You can also use a wahlbro inline pump, run it in my square for years. No plastic nipples is my reason. _________________ 71 Squareback-FI -- 73 Bay (subaru powered)

I'm beginning to see them too. Coool. |
I’m back, I have lots to upload/update from the last few weeks, but the short news is I’m moving again, back to SoCal.
I leave here end of the month, but I’m trying to get back in the hobby and I’ve been working every day for the last month or so to get the bus road worthy again. I’ll be towing the square behind the moving truck and getting it worked on when I get down to Cali with better weather. _________________ 71 Squareback-FI -- 73 Bay (subaru powered)

Yup. You won't find it that cheap locally, but if you have a problem with it, I'd rather deal locally. I only say that because I had an O'Reilly's version leak on 1 end after I powered it up. I took it back and got another one that didn't leak, and was good to go. The O'Reilly's pump number is E16020.
I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
