Count me in for camping Saturday night - me and my number one will be in attendance.

Look forward to seeing you. Let me know your real name and what you will be driving. Camping is $32/night, cash payable to me when you arrive. Thanks

Movies sound like fun and the igloo wall might make a good screen or let me know if I should bring my old slide screen.

We're up to 22 campers so far. The list is on page 1 of this thread.

obnoxiousblue and I will be enforcing strict parking requirements in order to fit everyone in Sat. night. Plan on being close to your neighbors for camping.

I'm planning to eat a can of beans, lots of broccoli and wash it down with a burrito (or two) and a six pack of beer for lunch. Pull your vans up close campers! The Thingamajigger will be odiferous. 😃

Spoke with Stan today and he informed me about this meet.  He thought it would be a good idea to post a reply here asking any one attending this meet if they had any 1600cc engine components, I am interested in purchasing.  I have a 63 beetle now and i would like suburban engine to build me a 1600.  gary only builds longblocks so i would need to purchase all the other parts.  Ex.  generator/regulator to do a 12v swap, starter, distributor, engine tins, manifold.  I'm a newbie to aircooled but i'm ready to dive in deep.  Stan has been unbelievable helpful, and I appreciate Any replies ahead of time.

My new to me beetle

it is pretty much leaking oil from every where, the generator or regulator is not working properly, the clutch is slipping and i'd like to go on the freeway with the car with out it being worked hard. I keep debating weather to rebuild the 1200 or go 1600.. I have began stripping the motor down to strip and repaint all the tin and replace the issues i can visually see. I totaled up about 1100 dollars for the new generator regulator, clutch, gasket kit, pressure plate, carb rebuilt and pushrod seals, oil cooler seals and that's crossing my fingers that the engine runs properly and doesn't need a rebuild when reinstalled.. Also 6v 40hp parts seem to bee very hard to come by these days.

I currently have the potential to pick up a 1300cc thats been converted to 12v but i'm not sure how to grind out my bell housing to fit the flywheel and if that's something i really want to do..

Please give me opinions as to which way you would choose to go.

thanks a million
phil.

The bell housing grinding is not that big of deal and it's been done to many trannies. The 1300 might be a good option if the price is right and it runs good, but you probably won't know that until you put it in.
My '64 vert that I told you about, with a 1600cc single port motor, is 12 volts and for long trips and regular driving, plus long term availability of parts, I'd make the jump to 12 volts if you can.

Hi Stan,

How's Friday night for camping? Have enough space for 1 more bus? I think I can take a 1/2 day on Friday so I should be able to pass thru the Boston area without getting stuck in traffic and be up in the area around 3-4 pm.

Thanks.

Lee

There's plenty of space - we can always squeeze tighter!

Bring it down Lee! We look forward to seeing you!

I updated the list. Watch out for the fri afternoon traffic around the Boston area, it can be nasty with people leaving early for the long holiday weekend.

I think I am taking Friday off - maybe hit the road 5:00am to get though BeanTown. Or show up late Thursday night - can one roll in say 9:00pm? i.e, gate open?

John, I'll get a key from the office when I check in. They give them out (for a security deposit) so we can let people in as needed.

That goes for anyone arriving late night.

If you are planning on arriving late let Stan know, or PM me so I can give you my cell number.

Hi,
I "convinced" my friend to camp out too. So include Ethan & son for Sat night, 82 Vanagon. He's going to try to make Friday night too but is going to check his work schedule.

I updated the camping list on page 1. 25 campers for Sat. now, we'll see how many we can fit.

Also have award plaques, dash plaques, t-shirts and sweatshirts ordered. Remember to turn in your completed people's choice ballot at the show by 1pm, this is necessary to get a dash plaque.

This
Is
Going
To
Be
EPIC.

Folks, I'm not sure were gonna have the room for awnings or big set ups. Lol
If you are really fixed on parking/camping next to someone specific, it may be best to make sure you arrive with that person. Once the buses squeeze into the igloo it might be tough to move ya'll spots around!
