I had made an offer and the seller wanted to think it over. Then he kept me on the runaround for weeks and was not able to come up with a price he would agree with.
Then he informed me that his daughter had put them up at ebay.
I told two friends about the auctions wich both finally got the trailers.
So they came to good homes at least. _________________ Master of my domain! |

I just picked up this trailer today. It says Westfalia on the hitch and has some script on the back? And the wheel centre caps have an "N" or "Z"
Any ideas? It opens out into a camper trailer. It is in poor shape but I think I can save it. Any information would be helpful. Thanks! |

The type Wolfsburg is a 1949 one and sits since 1954!
The Westfalia Wolfsburg during the last months was carefully restored. Almost ready now...VIN tag and Westy tag still are at the restorer.
The upholsterer spent lots of hours to completely disassemble and recover the cover with leatherette and restore the aluminium trims.

Nancy, thank you for your nice words!
BTW: the other trailer from this lot, the 1955 BREMEN model (fotos in the beginning of this thread) also came to caring and knowledgeable hands and currently also is in restauration. |

|

Are there any 1949 or older Westy Westfalia Wolfsburg trailers in the USA or our neighbors to the north Canada? Do any plans, drawings and or blueprints exist? I would even like to have the rough measurements to help scale off of the many pictures out there. The demension of frame, fender width, axle width, etc? As of now I can only use the 16" wheel to go off. Is there a book or literature on the Westy's? How many different models of this style?
I started this journey 44 years ago at age 14 in Augsburg Germany, Army housing Shelton heights 1970. My father trained at the Volkswagen training center near there. He had my mother take her VW there, and they used a 2 part jack that lifted the car up and separated removing the motor then a second copy of that jack rolled in to put in a loaner motor. We had our car back in 20 minutes! My dad then rebuilt that motor for part of his training and 1 week latter we had it put back in the car. Dad gave me a tour of the facility, and wow I wish I could of had all the cool factory tools like that double jack!

There was someone making repops in the classified section. Fibreglass shell, you provide the underpinnings. _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |
