I have found many a useful thread on this site, but just became a member. Hopefully someone can direct me to the parts I need... I have a Manx clone that I've done some major work on (welded-up a detachable metal roof with gullwing doors, etc...). Anyway, I'm looking for RAISED spindles to add a few inches of wheel clearance to my ride and get the belly up higher--I live in Wisconsin and snow is a pain. I can find lowered ones for sale all over the place, but no one seems to carry raised ones for front and rear. Also, would the rear be easier to just add shims, etc..? I've converted the front brakes to the 1970s Karman Ghia ones (normal disc-conversion kit)... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh--and I'd prefer not to go with the body raising kit.

The best way to do it is to find the factory Thing spindles or an entire Thing beam, brake drum to brake drum.

There are also various aftermarket

The stock VW front brakes on a glass buggy are already so powerful that they cause the front tires to lock up and skid in hard braking. The discs probably made it even more so. Its the rear brakes on a buggy that need to be more powerful.

Thank you both. Guess I just need to learn to search the forums a bit more accurately, being that the threads were there --I just missed them. Appreciate it.
