Great trip, great photos, great write up! If only I had Monday off to join you guys... Maybe next time. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Oh and get that oil seal fixed. I had to wash YOUR oil off the front of my bus!

You guys got to see some beautiful country. I love the shots on the yellow bridge!
I wish I'd been able to stay longer and actually camp, but home duties availed. Perhaps next time. _________________ Andrew

trip report:
damages acquired, blown oil pressure switch and oil filter seals (minor)
trip mileage:
422 miles
Gas used:
42.1 gallons
about 10 mpg it looks liek most of that is due to dirt roads and idling while stopped and 1 and 2 gear roads for many miles...but still disappointing mileage!
best was 20 mpg from vanage to ellenburg...but most of the pavement sections was still near 15 mpg. not the best, but better than the 10mpg i have been getting around town lately...
total cost:
243.15
that includes 32 spent at the swap at the show....
but i also made some money too...70 bucks selling parts. so that makes the trip total cost: 173.15!
smiles per gallon:
MILLIONS!
great trip, and i cant wait till next time |
422 miles that took 3 days stopping every other foot to snap a photo from every angle! _________________ 78 Riviera

Went to see ken at the busco yesterday after getting my transmission. Made it to the end of the pavement right in front of his driveway and the bus just died.
So i walked up to ken, and he offered to tow me out of the middle of the road. I said sure!
So he pulled me out of the way with this!!
Turned out to be a loose connector on the fi computer....the harness is due to be replace already and ive had a replacent for nearly a year...just need to install, and im gonna do it when i pull the engine and trans soon. The connector has a broken lock tab...along with the aar valve, the cold start valve, and the thermo time switch sensor...so tired of this harness. _________________ Stuart Zickefoose

steam cleaned the bottom of the bus tonight! ...and used a compressed air hose and nozzle to get about 5 inches of dirt out of the interior...
got almost all the mud off the bottom and the sides of the motor and trans, and cleaned off all the oil i could reach from leak residue...
the rear main was already dripping by the time i got home cant wait to fix it
current list to do all at once:
1. replace tranmission with rebuild and LSD
2. replace CV joints with THING CV joints (22* vs 17*) using stock axles
3. PSI wash entire underside of bus detailedly. get EVERYTHING clean for install
4. new flywheel (resufaced)
5. HD clutch
6. set end play
7. flywheel lock washer
8. flywheel o ring
9. pilot bearing
replace engine FI harness with new used one
10. double check fuel lines inside tank area
11. clean as much as i can
12. replace engine sound deadener and cardboard with holes with new used stock parts that arnt burned and falling apart
13. trans mounts
14 shifter coupler
anything else yall can think of? _________________ Stuart Zickefoose
