Did the 63 originally come with the rear VW emblem as well as the KG script?
Photos? |

I don't have one of those on my decklid, but I much prefer the style in the photos above than the one that should be on my car.
Sorry to hijack the thread but are these the same as the early Camper ones? there seems to be two sizes 210mm or 290mm ? _________________ 1969 UK Karmann Ghia build http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=518789&highlight= |

Any chance someone with that script on their ghia could go measure it for me? Height and width. I've sourced one from a type 3 that looks like the same one as the ghia but not sure the dimensions match or the posts.
Any help appreciated! |

Did anyone get a chance to measure their badge ?
I have measured the distance between the edge of the deck lid and the number plate light and it's about 340mm. The Bus scripts that are for sale are 290mm which seems far too long looking at the gap each end of the badge on the car above ? _________________ 1969 UK Karmann Ghia build http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=518789&highlight= |

No one had replied yet with the difference in measurements.
I'd like to know because I'm not sure which I purchased. If someone with a ghia one could measure I would appreciate it. I would also like to know the measurements of the bus one. |

I just measured the one on my '63 Ghia and it's 8.5 inches long and 3/4 inches high _________________ RIP HBB (1984-2009)

Anyone know where to get the smaller script badge? In the UK everyone seems to sell the bigger 290mm ones |
Keep your eyes on the classifieds here - I had one on my '63 in acceptable condition but in time found a much better one. Just be patient and check frequently - I've found a lot of difficult things to find that way. _________________ RIP HBB (1984-2009)

Thanks John, that is the correct badge for the car but I'm after the earlier one as I think it Looks a lot nicer
I've actually got one one of the correct badges in the garage. I might give Mason at the KG centre a call, he normally has these hard to find bits! _________________ 1969 UK Karmann Ghia build http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=518789&highlight= |

Cough, quick change of heart as my original 'Volkswagen' script appears to have cleaned up nicely. I've removed the pins so I don't have to drill any holes, I'll try mounting with some double sided badge tape...
