I was scanning the web for something & I found a handy tip to avoid (or check for) on mechanical FP problems. Not sure if this is common knowledge or anything....

I doubt that it is common knowledge, but it is definitely a good tip. The fuel pump has only a certain amount of spring pressure in the rocker arm. This spring pressure is what pushes the pump rod down. If there is a tight fit between the stand and the pushrod, then the rod will not drop down and follow the lobe on the distributer drive. Then your fuel pump will not be able to do its job.

It's too bad the video on YouTube isn't credited, but the man speaking is Rick Higgins of the 'Bug Me Video' series.

10+ DVDs and counting of helpful hands-on information. Cool
