Ovalholio
my '56 with a turbo'd 2919
The Story--
Well there was a car show last year just around the corner from me at the Regional Park and my friend with the Allstate (Henry J) was entered in it -- So I thought I'd drive the Ultra Fat on E85 tuned Ovalholio over to support him. My piece drove real nice considering just how really fat it was tuned.
Now, let me say that there were some ultra cool rides there -- and here I am driving a Mega Pigged out primered Oval with greasy hand prints all over it -- and My Buddy just had to be parked all the way to the back under a tree...So I drove through the whole show idling with an occasional burp to keep it from totally loading up -- I get parked next to Jerry and no sooner than I shut the thing off, there must of been 10 guys right there wanting to see the engine ... .. I'm going HUH? and I go Why??? One guy pops off and says, "Hell, Half the people at the show eyes are burning from the alcohol fumes coming off the exhaust." So I'm busting up and pop the hood -- -- -- One guy in the back says .. .." God Damn VW's ... I've got a 10 second car and everytime I race one of them I get my ass handed to me!!!" I'm LMAO. And I say it is just a stocker with a turbo on it. and he says, "Yeah, Right, and you can Bite Me Too. " -- -- Good Times |

Whenever I have bugs splattered on the windshield after driving down the highway for a while, it never fails for someone in the school parking lot to yell at me, "hey! there's bugs on your bug!" |

I twisted one around a year ago. Had the radiator leaking on my Nissan Titan. So I pull the radiator to take it to a shop and have it tested. I pull up to the radiator shop and tell them I have a leak in my radiator. the guy says, "What radiator?"
I tell him it's in the back seat.
You know ACVW's DO have a radiator. It's called the oil cooler. _________________ I'm not losing my hair, it's just retired and relocating further south.

I have an freshly rebuilt (to original standards) 1600 dp engine in my 1972 Super Beetle and my friend says " I don't know much about cars but that looks mean" and I said "if you think that one is mean you should see the big one up front" and he says "Really" and he stands there waiting for me to pop the hood until he realizes he has been tricked. _________________ Wanted: Anything from Risacher Motors VW dealership in Morristown, Tennessee or Westgate VW in St. Louis Missouri.

Someone asked me at a gas station if my 1972 super was a replica. Really? _________________ Wanted: Anything from Risacher Motors VW dealership in Morristown, Tennessee or Westgate VW in St. Louis Missouri.

Pulled my fastback into the Save-Mart parking lot near my house. Grocery bagger kid catches me as I head into the store.
"Hey man, that's a pretty cool Datsun!" |

Everyday:
"That's adorable"
"That's sick"
"How much did you pay? (I answer) "WHY?!"
"Does it drift"
And finally my girlfriend: "I love your car but it seriously needs to stop breaking all the time" |

when i get asked on how much i have paid for cars, my standard answer is "enough."
in regards to this thread, earlier this week I was out in the 64 bus and got called "hitler" and "hippy" within about 3 blocks by different people.
interestingly enough, several hours later the same day while driving the 67 bug the same thing happened. heading in different direction to different area of town, and they were not the same people sharing their ~ahem~ opinion of my/my rides.
it appears to me that there are lots of ignorant low lifes in the south SF bay area these days. _________________ 67 bug x3

As I was passing a school bus on the way to work today, some kid in the back of a school bus held up a history book with a picture of Adolf Hitler and swastika and plastered it to he back window as I drove by.
All I could think of was.....well you're close but not entirely correct! Try Ferdinand Porsche! _________________ 1966 Euro

Last night..
Cool night, left work in my 67 stopped at a nearby fuel stop..
Hood popped, idling to warm it up some..
I hear "HEY"! like something was wrong..
I turned around see a guy walking over quite quickly..
I yelled "HEY"! back.. ..but now ... keeping my back away from him...
He says...
"Thats a bright ass beautiful mother fucker".... pointing at the car
I simply chuckled and said thanks....
Ya just never know what your gonna hear...

Me with my karmann ghia (mostly at school)
Random - I LOVE YOUR PORSCHE!!!
Me - LOL, thanks! It is acutally a 1950s style volkswagen called a karmann ghia.
Interested guys at my car at my school - How do you get one? They are so much and are rare.
Me - LOL, you do not really "buy" one. For me, nonetheless, you must find one because fixed up they are the price of a good used car XD. Also the have problems. Try going on to thesamba.com
Guy: I like your brothers car, what is it?
Me: It is a volkswagen karmann ghia and it is actually mine (my brother is a senior and is bigger so people think that it is his )
Guy: Is it fast?
Me: 60hp of doom but my butt dyno says so
Me taking my bags out of the "trunk"
Guy - You're a dumbass
Me - *sigh*
Girl - Your car is really loud
Me - Yea (My car spits fire and backfires a lot thanks to the vac retard (dual vac advance). I think they were trying to start a conversation. Not really sure what to think, I like how it sounds (stinger))
Girl: I think your car is really cute (I get that way too much)
Me: Umm.... thanks ? (What do girls mean when they say cute? I accoiate a bug much more with cute than a ghia . I guess no one will ever understand women......)
Most of the time with the kids at my school it is just a lot of me telling what it is and confusion. I know one kid who knows alot about cars. His uncle is one of the host of street outlaws.
Keep up the replies, I would love to hear more stories _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

Wow, I don't think Clementine, or my previous Beetles (maytheyrestinpeace) ever received anything but admiration. Twice in the past week alone I have received solicitations for her purchase. (not going to happen) She is my daily driver (for my 3-mile commute) so maybe I'm out with her a lot more than some. But there is one common occurrence that happens regularly. I will come out of a store, work, etc and find somebody looking at her. The conversation almost always goes something like this...
Them- "Oh wow, that brings back memories, I use to have one JUST like that!"
Me- "Really? That's cool, she is a lot of fun to drive!"
Them- "Yeah, mine was JUST like this one. It was a '74 Super Beetle hard top, bright blue!"
Me- "er... how nice." |
