I just got my first 1965 DeLuxe Bus (of my own) and I'm trying to find out whether these anchor points are stock or were fitted after market? I have one on each side of the Walk-Thru along with the same eye hole screws on either side were the after market seat belts would attach.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Joshua

I searched by "Seat Belt" and found it after a little bit of looking.

Probably VW dealer install.

What will really tell you is if you look underneath and see if those spots are reinforced properly.

Before 1967 it was unusual to get a VW Bus with factory seat belts.

Now I'm curious. What would I see underneath to prove or disprove factory vs dealer?

Just went out and took a pic of each side, just the outermost mounts, from underneath. Factory? Dealer? It does have the 425 m-code, FWIW.

There is Velvet Green on the mounting hardware. Would that likely indicate factory mounting?

Factory supplied VW dealers with parts for those... Paint on them might be factory or if there was a respray... 425 should include seat belts if that info is correct. So would guess that they are factory installed.

Just did a quick search of the vintagebus.com bus registry for M 425. Out of 5173 buses in the registry, there are 1018 buses with that Mcode. So about 1 out of 5 buses.

Those look like ankle busters to me...unless you don't actually walk through the walk through.
The storage under the driver's seat is a good place to keep band aides.

My '67 walk through had the shouldered bolts with the plastic grommets. They kept the belt end close to the sides of the walk through and the plastic grommets held the belt end stiff enough that it kept the belt orientation proper so as not to end up with a twisted belt on your lap.
Although I've still managed to hack my ankles open with them too.

Gordo.
