I've been wanting to build a good bus hunting rig. And I always Liked fj55's so I picked one up. Not sure how well it will pull a trailer with the short wheel base. But it is better than the 4runner I'm using. It has already got a 350 chevy installed, and an onboard air compressor. Plans are for a winch, power inverter (for 110 power tools). and mud/snow tires for climes. Show us your hunting rigs, for more idea's.

Best to get into and fast out of tight spaces with this bad boy. Street legal and you can stand up and look over fences, if that's how you roll hahaha

Sorry, I'm waaaaaay to Cheap to have a "cool" tow rig:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

$700 1988 Dodge Ram 100 2wd, 318 automatic, starts & runs every time, cheap on parts, hard on Gas - 10 mpg, but it does the job. It sits nice in the back feild, waiting to be put on duty, cheap insurance for when someone says "if you can haul it out today, you can HAVE IT"........
Any Buses that are hard to get at, I line up the owner to find a tractor /truck/whatever to get it to the "road" where my 2wd can haul it.

The aluminum trailer is good for road trips, but sucks at extraction.

I found more buses by driving a bus while driving out of town and asking every waitress and gas pump jockey if they knew of any others like it around there town.

Yep, old pic. I have had it on the road since 2012, 6,500 miles this year alone.

I've used all kinds of stuff and I really liked driving my friend's CR-V with the towbar. Great little rig.

I've used my other friend's Forest Service truck and the car hauler trailer before. That thing is a hoss with a 350 V8 it pulls hard!!!

The ultimate is when you can do two at a time. Tow Truck's got a 6.9 International diesel motor that is bulletproof, burns oil, and pulls hard. We converted the snatch n grab to a 2" ball and use the rockjock towbar to pull the second one. There's a BANKS turbo kit at the junkyard we wanna put on it....
