I am hoping that the knowledgable Samba folk can help me with a query regarding my zwitter interior - I know there have been a few threads about zwitters and interior fabric, so I am hopeful that someone knows the answer...
My zwitter's interior was removed in 1990ish and replaced. I would dearly love to go back to as close to original as possible, but I have hit a stumbling block which has stopped me progressing for the last couple of years.
My car is a January '53 deluxe which was built for the German market (not export). It is pastel green. I know and have met three previous owners, and one of them confirmed that the correct fabric for my car is the grey/blue herringbone with grey vinyl trim. However, other people have told me my car would have had the beige herringbone with brown vinyl trim. So I'm stuck. I don't want to get this wrong as it would be an expensive mistake and a bit pointless to go from one wrong interior to another!
Can anyone help, please? Thanks in advance!
Please let me know if you need any further details... |

Even at the german market both models where offered and sold.
The standard model and the export model.
So that it was sold in Germany does not mean it can not be the export model.
If the car really has pastellgreen L11 as its original color it clearly is the export model. No standard was sold in that color.
As an export model it had the beige big herringbone and not the blue/grey small herringbone.
Does it have hydraulic brakes, side trim and a synchronised gear box?
Then it´s an export model. _________________ Master of my domain! |

He usually replies after a few days.
Last I heard the production had been pushed back as the factory making it had to renew staff. _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia - Sold

Hi,
the producer says yes it comes, so i wait
I have also find another factory were they will produce fabric for me ( the problem is the low order of 100 meters ) If i order 5 km i will find a lot of factorys.
The first project in january for them will be the greybeige export switter fishbone for metalblue and azurblue oval and switter.
