I have just seen people who had 5555 post and then they stopped posting to keep the amount of post (I think?) |

Post counts mean nothing.
I used to have quite a lot of them, but then I was naughty and they took most of them away. |

I rarely pay attention to them.. Just because a user may have a high post count doesn't mean shit..
You can tell who's serious and knowledgeable by the input they provide.

Hey Sambanistas, I'm heading to Pacific Grove, CA this week and was hoping to find some good, local eats on this post. Any suggestions? I searched the forum but came up with bupkis. Any ideas would be appreciated. _________________ '69 SingleCab

Did you go over the list for California?
Maybe nothing close enough to Pacific Grove?

Thx Ken - I clicked on what was an earlier link to your spreadsheet. I'm no expert in California geography, but I'm hoping that Weed is near Pacific Grove. _________________ '69 SingleCab

Well weed or no weed.. if you happen to find.. um... a good local place TO EAT on your trip..
Post it..
One of mine burned down... The Taste T Drive In in Shelby NC.
So much grease.. it smoldered for days..
Word is they will rebuild... and use fresh grease... :

Bummer - sorry to hear. A cool rail-car diner nearby closed recently but will reopen as more of an "upscale" place - we'll see... _________________ '69 SingleCab

I need to add a few:
In Virginia:
Alexandria - Al's Steak and Cheese are the bomb
Arlington - Bob & Edith's - traditional diner
Arlington - Jay's Saloon. Not many of these old NoVa dives around any more.
Fairfax - New Mexican style Mexican.
Falls Church - JV's - cool little juke joint since '47.
Harrisonburg - Jess's Quick Lunch - traditional diner.
Richmond - The Robin Inn - big plates of pasta, good n' cheap.
Woodbridge - Dixie Bones - family run bbq joint
And in DC - The Fox and Hound - great jukebox, different people, cheap sandwiches, even cheaper drinks. _________________ '69 SingleCab

Well, there's really no cheap thrills in Monterey, but I have a few favorites. There is some stuff in The Barnyard just off Hwy1 one Carmel Valley Rd. My favorite in PG is The Taste Cafe & Bistro. Lots of locals, across from Safeway(?) supermarket in a tiny strip mall. Really delightful. Try to get reservations. Nepenthe in Big Sur is amazing. It's Orson Wells and Rita Hayworth's former residence, overlooking the Pacific. Wonderful architecture, setting and a nice drive down Hwy 1. Get seats on the back balcony. Burger$ are good. Wander around while you wait for your seats, as it is quite packed, but worth it.

Back form recent road trip to Myrtle Beach SC for the wife's annual Pickle-Ball Tournament...
Hit my Flamingo Grill.....
Lobster bites for appetizer
BIG Prime Rib for me.. Medium with Redskin mashed potatoes and Edamame.
Wife had Scallops with Pasta. Sauteed Scallops, Mushrooms, Tomato, Tossed with Pesto Fettuccine & Romano.. = perfection
When Scallops are right... they are right..
Killer Food and Atmosphere..
Then the next night hit the "Noizy Oyster".. (yeah that's spelled right)
Again never let the outside fool ya..
Crab Dip and cheese covered Pretzel for an appetizer.. a little too creamy but the flavor was spot on...
Wife had AWESOME Broiled Crab Cakes that were HUGE, with Collard Greens and Red Skin Potato Salad
I had the Blackened Tuna, with Crab Mac (OMG) and Corn Nuggets..
Oh Yeah.... we'll be back...
