with the cool weather so far this spring, the idle was a little low, so a simple bit of fiddling with the idle set screw and everything is OK again...

no pictures, but replaced the engine cover seal with the seal from ISPWest - fit like a glove, a little 3M gorilla snot in the channel and away we go...

also, picked up the jailbars from the powder-coater... they are almost too pretty to put on my car... I need to get some mounting screws and install them...

about the same - it wasn't noise that alerted me to the failed seal, but the intrusion of engine/exhaust fumes in the cabin...

so far, the Solex's are about as economical as the Webers - I gained about 2 mpg, mainly probably due to the Webers were jetted rich...

it really doesn't seem to matter, as I normally drive it less-economically than I should...

right now I am getting 26 to 28 mpg; if I drove it more daintily, I can imagine 30 mpg easily...

yes - somewhere here in the build thread is the set up we settled on....

EDIT:

26mm venturi's in them, 137.5 main, 175 airs, 55 idle pilots...

obviously, you'll probably need to increase the jetting a bit compared to my 1776, but you'll have a good starting point...

Was this the sport headlight kit that you used?

http://www.mamotorworkstv.com/vw/product/sport-hea...ir_303101/

If so, how are they standing up to weather and time ? Have the lenses turned hazy?

Bout to buy some bot on the reviews in the website a fellow said that the lenses turned hazy.

How are they holding up ?

they are holding up great - the lenses are glass and are not hazy at all...

Thanks.

If yours are glass then the ones I am looking at (ones in the link) are not the same as they are made of plastic.

Could yo provide me with the links to the ones you bought?

that link appears to be the same ones that I purchased several years ago - if they are plastic now, they've changed the headlights....
