This seller removed the photo. I sent them a cropped one to use if they wish.
They stated they did not put the swastika there - it was there when they purchased the decklid for their Bus.
Personally that is something I would remove immediately. |
And- "I was only following orders, Your Honor". That is even more lame. Did they forget it was there? Or did they and their buddies think it was cool and a little bit bad? That is closing in on braindead, mouth-breather territory right there.

It's sad to see a bunch of grown men hiding behind their computers, I'm sure many of you left middle school decades ago.....

As an investor in precious metals, things like that keep popping up in the VW scene, it is a red flag to me that maybe I should rethink my investing.
It is ugly and repugnant. I had a long time "Friend" come out recently as a holocaust denier, I know him through VW's not this website. It really is something to consider. When I unveiled a War era political pin, I saw much communication along the same lines. Until I see a dedicated sticky or forum to the memory of the groups that died and the facts related to that group. I will have to reconsider my involvement with the VW scene at all. Aloha.

I agree that the swastika anywhere on a bus, or anything else, is idiotic at best, but I have a hard time associating it with the entire 'VW scene'.
The application of it to a bus with this 'look', especially concealed inside the engine bay, is much more likely to stem from a whispered 'psst, did you know i was a hardass?' motivation than from a shouted 'SIEG HEIL, etc.' one. The distinction doesn't really matter, except to illustrate the point that there isn't really any pro-nazi movement happening in the VW scene, which is what your post seems to imply. I think its also worth noting that, for whatever reason, nazi regalia seems to be almost camp in the UK, which makes me see its use there in a slightly different light. Still dumb.
Does the occasional use of the term Kraft Durch Freude in the VW scene also make you feel that way? Not trying to be argumentative at all, just curious, really. |

You should raise the standards for people you call your friends. Every group has a bad apple but that's no reason (i would think) to turn your back on it. Should I not drive a Mustang because Henry Ford was an anti-semite?

I put "modified" in the title so there would be no dispute as to whether this bus is restored to original condition or restored with modifications. Clearly it has been modified. And it's not my bus. I did the work for the owner and am selling it for him because I have the most knowledge of it. So I stand by it's description and pricing which the owner and I discuss regularly.
