I'm looking for suggestions on how best to reinforce the edge of the headlining on our Ghia vert. You can see that the screws and cup washers are pulling through the material. The cup washers you see are not OG, they are larger ones to try and spread the load, but I still have the originals. The car is very largely original condition and I want to repair this visible area as well as possible, but keep as original a look as possible. I tried to reinforce the back side with fabric, but it wasn't strong enough.
Advice please!

The finish washers / cup washers that came with the car had flat backs -- the open back ones cut into the material -- unfortunately, I don't know of a source for flat backed washers other than other ghias. I would ask the ghia specialists if they have any o.g. washers in stock / put up a wanted classifieds ad or -- failing that -- give your washers a flat back by rubbing some J.B. Weld into the open space.

Good luck.

Thanks danielsan. I do have a couple of the flat back washers, and I can swap from areas where I don't need them, like the rear carpets. I think what is needed is either a strong patch of material on the back side to spread the load, or a broad edging strip. It would need to bond really well and be a fairly good colour match (I don't think repro headliner would be strong enough).
Ideas for patch material and/ or adhesive welcome!
