For the fun of it I am installing a Hurst Indy that I have had for some time in my 1962 bug.

I believe they install without the stock shift plate. Is this correct?

Also, I heard "push the base all the way to the left. How about forward or back? Any hints or insights.

I drove it around the block with it and it seems fine but 1st to 2nd (reverse) scares me a bit.

My wife thinks I'm doing this in hopes of meeting Linda Vaughn Wink
Even though she is a bit old!

That is exactly what I was hoping for.

One other question: Does anyone know what the adjusting bolt on the bottom does?

Thanks for the help.

Read the lower part of instruction #5.... specifically the last sentence.. its the reverse lock out adjustment....

That seems to be the biggest issue with these styles..
Once you get the R lockout (and or spring) where you wont scrape Reverse while shifting towards second (up or down) ... its then uncomfortably tight to shift to Reverse...

Thanks, that was hard to read, once I printed it I could see it.

That's what I was hoping for.
