Just found this little gem, just wondering if it can be ran very carefully, or if it's toast..I don't have much history on the engine, PO said it had a basic rebuild done by him, and he never started it after that
1600 dual port/relief in a 71' squareback, crack is by #1 cylinder.

tig, with wide gas lens I guess.
haha on the ford heads. Super common problem globally it seems.
I took a head off a ford 4.1L that was cooked last week. 11 cracks! _________________ The best of VW engine development!

Welding magnesium is as easy as welding aluminum the other problem is it looks like the case does not have case savers. I would not use it though just due to the other issues you will run into trying to put humpty dumpty back together, _________________ "What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: 'tis dearness only that gives everything its value. Not worth the headache. If it were the original numbers matching case for a really nice original car, it would be a different story |

That's from late 1970 so it could be the original case...but there's probably lots more issues than just the crack, which is bad enough by itself |
