Slowly but surely making progress, thus why lurking.

Anyone have any experience with BelMetric? Looks like they might actually have quality hardware; found them through a Porsche site. Sick of dealing with junk hardware and want smooth interaction. Plus, like to have it on hand rather than waiting weeks for what I need; might explain the slow progress... Rolling Eyes

I was looking at them for the Mercedes' horn screws, and thinking if I do order, be good to get a few other bits to make shipping worth it. I know the M8 is common, but what other specifications? Course or fine? Length? Any other sizes?

Thank y'all in advance! Very Happy

Ray, so good to see a familiar name! Wink Thank you so very much for the help! Very Happy

Well, the later now sells Chinese, which I refuse to put on German vehicles. Wink

Hopefully tomorrow can go through the Volkswagen and Mercedes parts books and figure out sizes.

Yes....there are probably some products at Mcmaster that are Chinese but I just stocked up on 8mm/6mm nuts, bolts and schnoor washers back in March from Mcmaster. All of the grade 10.9 were US made. I did order some long....like 70mm that were class 8.8 as well that were suspect though they will be fine.

I am assuming you meant McMaster Carr. I normally order most of my metric from Metric & multistandard but they take longer. I know they and Belmetric pretty much source all from US and some Japanese and Europe.

Good to see you around! Ray

Dorman makes some great products. I will however caution everyone on the brake bleeder valves they sell for type 3/4 front calipers. The part # they sell is the incorrect length and bottoms out on the collar around the caliper making it hard to tighten correctly and one package had the wrong angle on the tip and they would not seal. I think the metal on them is abit weak as well. I went with a German correct length from Pelican parts. Ray

Based on their government filing for conflict minerals, it appears that the vast majority of their products are manufactured in China, Thailand, Singapore and some in Japan. They have to list all sources of materials and parts in the filing-whether they contain conflict minerals or not.

I probably am just in awe of the huge stock of Dorman bolts that Eugene Fastener stocks in 5mm lengths. They will take you back in the warehouse & let you search out the perfect length bolt/nut/washer! Very Happy

It would be damn nice to have that locally, I'll admit.
