|
I thought prices for resto on my bus were high but the prices of bits needed for my 71, 1302 LS (convertible) takes it to a whole new level.
Price of seals is shocking, I truly thought there was a typo but its the same everywhere, a 1/4 light vent seal about £9 for a 'normal bug all day long
£56 for my 71 convertible.
And that just for 1 vent seal. I am truly blown.
Door scrapers are about £70 each, and theres 4 needed, I paid £20 for my bus and thought that was a bit steep.
Do sensible priced seals exist, my kids are starving

About 10K to much for this one
You figure they would have welded up the hole for the baby turbo and paid a little more attention to the ill fitting seat covers among a lot of other neglected details for this kind of money _________________ Rick

Check out this one. An all original survivor car. Its definitely worth 6500 because nada valued it at 6900. What a smoking deal for this original. Before you say anything you don't know about VW's like he does. So jump on this deal before its gone only been on craigslist for months.

Couple pages back, the guy is selling the same car here.Same wording too.Hhe thinks he is slick selling it at a fair price based on NADA. Best part is he is firm on the supers price. True survivor to boot. |

Haha wish I would have seen that before I posted it. He is selling another one for a more reasonable price and in better shape.

Jerry is clearly never going to know what it's like to drive a decent bug. Here in Idaho, when you make your wife drive something like his other piece of shit daily- it would constitute spousal abuse. I'd offer him a trade for new skirting on the single wide before anything else with a title dies on his property. _________________

Actually, his samba ad (vs his Craiglist's ad) has more relish all over it. "'72 Super beetle is the rarest and most desireable super around",,,now that is riot. |

I just bought a couple of strut spacers (they go up in the top of the struts), and they were way too tall. So I call Cipi1 up.
Return, no problem. But they said it would take 3 to 4 weeks to refund my Paypal.
3 to 4 weeks?
Seriously?

I recently bought a front bumper bracket for my '72 Super from So Cal Autoparts. The welds on one of the sides popped when I was loosely fitting it to the bumper. And i mean LOOSELY, not even a scratch on the bracket's paint. Also, the holes didn't align correctly w/the bumper holes, i would have had to take a grinder to the bracket to make it fit.
Called socal for an RMA and their reply was that they would call and leave a voice mail w/the RMA number. No email w/the RMA info like all other vendors. I would have to return the part and they would determine if it was defective or not. Sheesh. Hopefully my wife hasn't erased the message
Rather than wait, I bought an Empi brand one from a local parts guy and lo and behold, a perfect fit and properly welded components! _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

since we're complaining about high prices, I was looking for some fiberglass fenders. There are only like 2 shops that make these, one in Arizona.
I need a pair of front standard bug fenders, 2 inches wider (and running boards to match) .... I'm in Canada. Theres noone here making fiberglass parts for vw which means I'd have to import from Arizona, pay dollar difference, cost to convert CDN to US dollars, huge shipping, duty, cross border brokerage fees, 550.00 US for the package turns to about 900.00 CDN.. What's the point of "FREE TRADE?"
....then they need paint too.
Conversely, I happen to HAVE a pair of front Superbug fenders which are 2 inches wider than stock (looking for 400 CDN for them)
Going back to US, is cheaper for you guys to buy from us but shipping is still high.
thats my gripe. |
