Is having a marvel mystery oiler a good idea? Heard it helps keep things running better with the low grade dual out there today, granted I only buy ethinal free but still worth it or not? They seem relatively cheap!

Yep but don't bother paying $$$ for a used Marvel Oiler when you can buy a '50s/'60s NOS Ampco Oiler off the shelf for a fraction of the price ($79.95 at the time of writing): http://ampcolubes.com/products/vw_kit

It does the same job as the Marvel Oiler.

Ok so the build plan goes like this at the moment:

40 hp case, line bored
69mm Stroker crank, counterweighted
Lightened 6 volt flywheel
Engle 100 cam, or similar grind
Origanal Mahle 83mm big bore pistons & cylinders
Square boss heads, formula vee style
1:1:1 rockers
Dual single barrel carbs
Full flow Fram oil filter
Ampco top end oiler

I still haven't entirely given up on Okrasa heads so if I can manage a pair that will be the head situation

I also want to get some cool little detail things like a origanal cleanable glass fuel filter, and I am starting to build the mold and foundry so I can cast my own finned aluminum valve covers! Stole that idea from Racer

So any changes to that set up?
And are the stock connecting rods, pushrods, and cam followers hold up or is there a better choice?

Thanks everyone! Very Happy

Forget the Ampco Oiler if you're using dual carbs...just add the Marvel Oil to the fuel tank.

Is there a specific ratio of oil to fuel?

There's a recommendation on Marvel Oil bottles. Check here: http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com/index.php/forums/

Any ideas on what is the most that I should pay on 40hp Okrasa heads? Remembering that 40hp heads are a lot more rare then 36hp heads??? Think Think
