Installed a cheap but good enough Pyle stereo w/bluetooth and an sd reader in the glove compartment. Wired to a pair of old crappy Pioneer cone speakers in the kick panels and works great! Bluetooth works excellent, can stream my music and make hands free voice calls! Now I can sell the 2011 Sonata...

Timed the car and finished tweaking my dual carb set up. Now I have a new oil leak to figure out. _________________ 71 SuperBeetle (5 year old restoration under refresh)

addressed some rough idle/backfiring the car had developed during summer by swapping distributor cap&rotor with OEM replacement parts.
the old cap had a lot of carbon deposits but those cleaned out fine and since the coil post still looks good I'm going to keep it as an emergency spare.
the old rotor had a badly pitted contact surface and failing insulation, so that's now junk. _________________ cars:

Pulled the engine out of a 74 autostick super. First time pulling an engine. As soon as I disconnected that +*#@ torque converter everything went as smoothly as the videos show. |

I took off the holley bug spray and installed factory carb. Too cold out for the bug spray. _________________ 1964 beetle

|
|
I had limited time to work on the car today, so I figured I would disconnect the wiring from the headlights and turn signals in order to be able to remove the front fenders. What a mess.
All four of the bolts holding the turn signals on the fenders sheared off when i attempted to remove the nuts. I had previously put some PB blaster on them, and did not even apply tons of torque. Crap! Not sure what i will do about these when it's time to remount them. I can't even find replacement bulb holders (it's a '69).
Removing the headlights was also a total hassle. The screws holding the inner bezel were almost all seized, and the screw heads were already stripped in a few cases. I was finally able to get four of the six out. One on each side remained so stubborn, i needed to use vice grips on them.
The headlight retainers are both pretty messed up - super rusty and kind of banged up. Deciding now if I will spend time to clean them up and bang them back into shape, or save the time just spend the $$ to replace them. They are either $30 or $50 for "best quality".
All in all, i figured it would take an hour; ended up taking closer to 3 hours. |

Well my High backs to Low Back conversion is now complete. I am extremely happy with the outcome. Although I believe that the TMI product for the conversion kit needed some more foam. There was like a 2 in gap between the foam and the fabric. So I ran to walmart and pick up some low density foam roll for like 6 bucks for a 10 ft roll.

after enlisting my father's help, finished the tune up of the engine with four new spark plugs... hard task on a mexi due to the FI rails getting in the way of #1 and #3.
had to disconect the harness and put together a silly looking contraption made of two extensions and two cardan joints to be able to move the socket and undo/tighten the plugs.
Then went for a short test ride, at last everything was fine but then realized neither of us was carrying his driving license... _________________ cars:

|
|
Today I worked on getting my H4 light hooked up and properly aimed at the street and not at the second floor. Nice lights I got on eBay came complete with the bulb, running lights and halo/cat eye LED as well (I haven't connected that yet).
Had to trim the housing a little and added a rubber grommet so there's no issue with all the electrical.
As you can see!
Nice looking resistant polycarbonate plastic lens.
Tired old burn glass seal light
After all the wires were properly placed on the housing.
Good looking...
Low bean on High is yet to be installed along with running light and LED Halo option.
Another angle with the new fuel flap door that was missing (5 bucks at the scrap).
Night time show
Thats all I did!
Next job on the table BRAKES |

Installed a new battery in my 68. I started her up, went to the back to check on things and noticed a fuel leak when I pumped the gas time for a rebuild... I'm really glad I noticed now rather than driving down the road... _________________ Stupid people do stupid things. |

Today I pulled the body to replace the pans and channels. I have a lot of work ahead of me thanks to these lovely central PA winters.

And drove it for quite a while. Something sounded off and I kinda remember that valves were at almost zero gap when I adjusted them. Ultimately I do not know if I have hydraulic lifters or not. Easy way to tell! Help! 75' bug |
