Thanks Stuco I was thinking that I might as well go with the new ww tank I'm glad to hear you think it's good and ya I too like keeping original as possible but I agree with you as risky and peace of mind knowing it's clean new just is the icing on the cake. Very Happy

I guess now I have to get a gasket and some bolts too. What a hassel thought I would have been good to go. oh well making progress thought about having the frame sandblasted by a local guy said he uses black sand. dunno much about it but the frame is kinda rusty. Shocked

What does anyone think? Im looking to drive it im not going for a compete resto. I just want to do things right and plan on driving camping with family so safety is most important.

Are the rustiest areas shown in the pics? Does the guy who sandblasts weld too? I'd have him cut out the worst areas and weld in good metal. Or get a welder and start doing it yourself. You could do the crucial areas first and go from there. I am not an expert on frame structure and welding by any means but this is just what I would do. Hopefully some others will chime in.

Did you put the fuel tank in yet? I bought one 5 or so years ago and the neck was off. Just curious if they've improved.

Thanks for the suggestion Stuco, The sandblast guy doesn't do welding. I'm still on the fence about having it done or doing it myself. I was actually planning on buying a mig welder as theres quite a bit of welding to be done i figured it would be worth it. Just kinda whated to get it driving first but it would also make sense to do it now while I have everything out. As far as installing the tank no I haven't. I haven't even compared I might have to check it out now that you mention it being off.

I think they have a new and improved version. I'm using one in my bus now and its really nice, neck fits perfect.

Do your own welding but get rid of that rust. Sandblasting sucks and is well worth it to have someone else do it for you.

Good to see a little movement on that "beast", and congrats to you both on your new addition. Buy that baby a set of wrenches and start training the little buggar on how to help Dad with his Bus!

I think they look different because the old one has the reserve at the bottom and so it wouldn't sit the same as the new one without. Thanks bill baby Evan is doing great growing fast. He will need wrenches soon haha. Cant wait to get some help with bus. Hopefully I can get some real headway sooner than later.
