Does anyone know if you can put roll up windows in the front doors of a split window bus? _________________ "Twilight is upon me and soon night must fall, that is the way of things" |

I'm sure its been done, but why anyone would want to i don't know. There is not much room inside those doors for typical roll up mechanisms. |

Get ready for the haters...
I've heard it has been tried, unsuccessfully. It is something that I would like to tackle, take a junk door and make something up. I've got it sorted out in my head, how hard can it be?! I'm not a huge fan of the sliding glass either. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

If sliding windows are so great, why don't manufacturers today use them? _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Probably some BS government safety regulation. _________________ WANTED:

My first guess would be it's cheaper to do one pane of glass.
Also:
We have reliable A/C now and it is easier to seal a solid window and ventilation is not needed. Same reason most (all?) cars don't come with vent wings either. _________________ How to Post Photos

If you want to be cool remove the window frames but kerp them in your bus so if it rains you csn simply slide the frames in the doors and you have windows again |

How many differences are there between modern cars and 50 year old ones? Lots, huh? |

Flat glass frames and flat doors at different angles don't mix. Think: FJ40
You can't make that window 'bend' on its path south without adding to the door's inner thickness- or outer curve. Once that is done, you're married to wacky shaped door panels and a strong sense of hating oneself for having thought of it to begin with. _________________

Yes you can install roll up windows. The most painless way is to sell your split bus and purchase a baywindow bus. If you have to have roll up windows then you don't need a split window bus. _________________ Waiting for santa to drop off funky green. I can wish can't I???? |

How 'bout a curl-up roll-down window? Put thick mylar on a window shade and attach a string to a winder to pull it down. |

IMO, this is the best solution for those that 'need' roll up windows...splits are quirky & different, which is why I like 'em... _________________ 1960 L31 M183 kombi |
