I have a 1962 samba I am renovating and can find no reference to what are the correct windows? Some say Sigla, some say Sekurit, some say Sekurit plus the VW logo also. Just what are the correct period windows and what might be the relevant dates when say Sigla became Sekurit etc etc. confused? Also are all samba roof windows green tinted? |

how does the M-code plate read on the bus?
USA spec passenger buses almost always have laminated (sigla brand) side windows in 1962. european spec buses usually have tempered side windows in 1962. the M-code plate will tell where it was delivered, and the main spec package can be used to determine which glass was used.
also, in the logo department, not all logos would match on a bus. i.e. a bus could have some small sekurit and some of the old larger sekurit. at the factory, they would use up stock until it was gone. this is seen commonly on buses. this happens with both sigla and sekurit in many years, and '62 is one of those years. _________________ .

Thanks again. It is a usa imported bus so it's looking like Sigla is the correct signature. Have found someone in the uk making new glass with original Sigla logo so this should work out well. Cheers. |
