I was thinking someone might make that point, but IMO going from an aircooled flat 4 to a water cooled flat 4 is a different matter (reliability, power, age of technology) than sticking a Honda engine in a Mk1. There are so many other viable FWD VW engines you could stick in a Mk1 that would be just as powerful and reliable than just sticking a Honda in there just because you can. The technology is about the same, so there's really no advantage other than to say I put a Honda engine in a rabbit/golf = qualifies as a bastard to me and kind of pointless, but again that's my opinion. All are welcome to agree or disagree.

^^^ I kinda like this one. A few more mods/unmods would make a great 60's hotrod custom. Any shots of the front end?

Apparently the modifications were done in Italy in the 70's. The car was bought and brought to the US where it has sat in this guy's garage in DC for a decade plus. He plans to fix it up and keep the look ..

It's complete sacrilege, but yeah... the look does almost work. Looks like a chubby toy of a 911 kind of.

There's a 356 front, Ghia rear end in the gallery. Very well done. I'll look for it and get back to you.

I think that would look better as a fat bodied Ghia without the three fifty six nose. The work looks well done though.

Mmmmmm, fat bodies...

See your point. but then, a vtec actually is a technological improvement over the stock golf engine. newer design, better materials, variable valve timing... well, to be honest I'm not a big fan of engine swaps in general, it's just a thing I'v learned to live with. Twisted Evil

Heck, I just was playing "what looks out-of-place here?", not considering deep philosophical questions like "how many bastards can dance on the head of a pin!" Overthinking this takes the fun out of it!

Looks like it may be a BB Chevy truck radiator.

At first glance, I thought the engine was touching the ground! Misleading shadows/oil-stains... I nabbed the build from the image link if anyone's curious- http://webspace.webring.com/people/vv/vdubthing181/type4thing.html
