|
|
As you guys know, the great people at Sewfine make some pretty awesome products for our vanagons. As a result of their facebook page doing so well, they shared this yesterday. I'm sure they don't mind me sharing this with the samba people, so here it is!
I love everything I have from them and just may be getting a carpet set while the price is good!
20% OFF VANAGON CARPET SALE!!!!!! 1980-1991
So our Facebook page hit 3,500 likes over the weekend and as a little thanks for all the support, we decided to have a sale. Now, I know I promised this a while ago, but we've been pretty busy at the shop. Which is a good thing. The sale is for our 9 PC Vanagon front carpet kit only. The middle piece and rear cargo area can be added for an additional charge. Here are the colors: Denim Blue, Black, Cocoa, Smoke, Charcoal, and Carmel. SALE PRICE $185.00. Normal retail is $229.95. Check out our online catalog to see the various colors of carpet on sale. Be sure to click on the actual picture of the catalog. Thanks. http://www.sewfineproducts.com/catalogs-van.htm _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=559766&highlight=winter+rust

So I searched around but couldn't find anything, does anyone have a picture of their charcoal carpet in a vanagon?
Also, here is that facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/sewfineinteriorproducts _________________ She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro! |

Not the greatest pictures, and our first time installing carpet - but the dark charcoal suits basically any interior:
We happened to be driving through Denver last week in our (new to us) Vanagon and picked up another charcoal kit for it because we were so pleased with how it turned out... Nice people. _________________ 1986 Weekender "Birch" |

Thanks a bunch!
I was worried it was darker and would show light-colored dirt but that looks like a nice medium gray. Great alternative to the standard/OEM light gray. _________________ She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro! |

I am curious when vendors are going to step up and show the vanagons the love they give bays and splits. It is time we start getting factory replica carpets and seat covers. The newest ones are almost 25 years old and are considered classics in most states. |

Sewfine makes carpet kits for Vanagons - no, they are not heat molded in a press like the originals that VW made thousands and thousands of, but lets not forget, Sewfine is running a business to make a profit to pay it's employees a wage and stay in business. To make a mold, and press, etc. would take WAY more customers than the few of all the owners that actually step up and pay for a set. For a molded carpet kit - if it cost $1000 - how many would buy it? Not very likely to happen.
I just want to make sure that appreciation for Sewfine's efforts doesn't go unnoticed. _________________ 1972 Porsche 911E

I do appreciate their products and business, I just wish we could get exact matches for stock colors and patterns. I am ok without the exact molds, etc. |

The dark charcoal reminds me of the carpeting that came OEM in the early Porsches. |

I wish somebody would figure out how to make a "carpet" kit out of rubber/vinyl/whatever. The supply of factory rubber interiors seems to have dwindled down to unobtainium, and they're all pretty worn and faded by now. _________________ Casey--

Indeed! I love the factory rubber in the front but mine is starting to go "bald" in places.
Searched for years for a spare. Finally found one with a tear by the gas pedal, I'm hoarding it until I figure out a way to repair it. But once they've both worn out? _________________ 1981 Vanagon, Aircooled 2.0 AFC

I have saved a bunch of them.
Not faded or ripped.
Mine are from 90 or 91 base models and have the provisions for the rear facing jumpseats.
Many Carat owners pay HUGE dollars to have factory fitting rubber instead of carpet on the floor and pedestals. |

I would much prefer this route. Fingers crossed. _________________ "See The Glass As Already Broken."

I wonder if the people that want rubber floors have had them before? There are benefits to both carpet and rubber. In Colorado, the carpet seems to hold the dust/dirt until you can vacuum it up. And they both clean up nice. Rubber tends not to look clean except right after you cleaned it. I think more red dirt gets into the cracks and crevices around the van with rubber floor mats.
What do others see as the benefits of rubber over carpet? |
