|

OK
One of the last things I did on my last job running the waterjet machine was to make a set of wheel adapter to go from 4 lug to wide 5, I cut them out of 1/2" high grade aluminum, do you think this will stand up to some mild off road [no more then 1 foot of air] ...
I will use studs in the drums and rotors and large 1" hex lug nuts and studs in the adapter plate for the wheel. I know I can get rotors and drums in wide five but I cant afford them right now and I already have the adapters cut, I made 5, one will be a balance adapter.
Do you think they will be strong enough? Thanks for any help.

They look pretty sturdy. But I would put a seat in for the lugs, and some press in studs on the wide 5. _________________ Wash your hands

The Micro Stub setup used for racing uses a aluminum adapter like yours to go from the small 5 lug pattern to the wide 5.
One of the Class 5 Baja Bug I use to prep flipped over several times at about 80mph. When assessing the damage after, the micro stub hub had bent in the bearing area and the adapter was still straight and usable.
I think it will hold up well unless you are using an extreme off set wheel. _________________ Joseph

What grade of aluminum did you use? |
Multi69s
As far as I can remember its 6061 T6, I don't think we ever used any thing else in 1/2" plate. I cut them out over 2 years ago and my memory not as good as it used to be, I will look the rest of them over and see if there's any printing on one of them.

They'll be fine for extreme use. That's the same material I'm running on mine. It's been rolled hard 17 different times and they've held up.
