I blame Obama. Not really. I just don't have much money as I am only 16 years of age, but I still do not have a "real" job. What I did to fix up my ghia was mow lawns

Pushin' a mower to pay for your Ghia!?!?

It's taken a while to get to here after dealing with my dads passing and the paperwork nightmare but I have mine at a 3" narrowed rear on bags and narrowed the front 3" at the beam.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I'm having the drive shafts machined today as the shortest I could find were still an inch too long. The front squats on the ground and the rear sits about an inch of the ground measuring from the lowest point on the pan.

It might not be what everyone likes and I'm fine with that but it's my joy and escape from the everyday grind...

Well I am about to start work at a local supermarket because it is now winter. Here the grass dies in the summer and winter Evil or Very Mad . That makes it a bit hard to get some serious cash....

Yet again with some 135 rims, 1.5 inch clearance, and a 3 inch narrow will I be able to drive without rubbing?

I knows that ghias were hand made but they had to be, at least, a little bit close to one and other.

Ha! No worries on slow from my part. It's taken almost two years to get to where I'm at in that picture. There is nothing more important to getting things done right than taking your time and at 16 you have all of it Wink

Ok. well I have taken the next step in getting my car to where I want it. I just fitted some sprintstars on my car and it looks great! I just need to get the car down now. It took me 9months but I have more than enough cash now to even do air ride if I want Smile . I am going to go with a 3" narrow also and not a 2". The stock rims had a a more inwards offset. I am getting a 3" with all new balljoints, bushings, and all that good stuff Smile. Same with the rear.

Here is how is how it sits now.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And this is how I want it to sit. It is about 2.5" lower front and back (photoshop... again....)

I also want to lower the rear but I am having some problems with the gap at the rear. Can I just hammer the crap out of the inner fender and then roll the lip? Also. for a 2.5 inch drop with irs about how many notches should I go? 1 notch?

aww dont do that Crying or Very sad
Just find a rim/tire combo that fits, you dont want to be known as an A-hole previous owner.

Nice cover! also in some circles refered to as a Porte-cochere Very Happy
Car is looking good, one big notch should be pretty close in the rear. Sadley there is a fine line between looking tight and not fun to drive.

I'm not a fan of lowering this far. I just hate seeing a car lowered so far that the rear tires are angled up into the fender well. Ruins the car IMO. I really like the "how it sits now" photo.

I was looking it over this morning and I decided that I am just going to rebuild the front end. The ball joints are now squeaking really bad and the shocks are 15 years old... I still want to lower it but in the mean time I really do need to get back on the mechanical track of mind. Ill get an alignment (still have not done that), press in new bjs and maybe a sway bar and go on the performance path? I really want to make a 1600 with some kadies and maybe a bigger cam (engle 100?) . Ill post here one day when I have a new motor and the car "stanced". Maybe the tires being so tight in the rear was a good thing. If they were not like that the car would have probably been slammed by now Rolling Eyes . Thanks

That would be on a swing axle, IRS does not have that issue...
As for the rear being too tight to the fender, you can rebarell steel rims and place it where it needs to be Wink

Thanks ghia7758 Smile . On my upgrade list is a 1915 motor. I am talking to my engine builder tmw, so that is where most of my saved money (if not all) is going to go. After that I will make it where that power can go around a bend. I still want to make it about an inch lower, but the total cost were about 800 bucks for all new lowering stuff so that must wait...
